Hi, I thought I ought to introduce myself as I've been lurking for a while but been to scared to post.
I've been trying to lose weight solo for a few months now and its just not working. I've been busting my behind at the gym since September when my OH joined with me and logging religiously for the last few weeks. I don't seem to be losing and I've gotten so disheartened. So 4 weeks ago I bit the bullet and got a personal trainer. Today was my ninth session with him and he really pushed me to work harder than I think I can. I feel good when I come away from the gym knowing the session went well. And yet the scales haven't moved and my body fat hasn't changed in the last 4 weeks.
On the one hand I feel very upset and very down and wonder why I'm even bothering, I might as well eat what I want, do what I want and not make the effort. But, on the other hand, I enjoy going to the gym now (never thought I'd say that!), I don't feel like I'm on a diet (I tell my kids I'm not on a diet, I'm just changing to be more healthy) and I don't want to be fat forever.
I think I just need a kick up the backside and to be told to suck it up and carry on.
Anyway, enough of the rambling and woe is me drivel. I'm going to try and be active on here and hopefully get support from you guys. I even hope I can support others.

Thought I'd add a little more info.
I started at 255lbs in May and I'm now at 234. I suppose I'm greedy really wanting to see results quicker than I am, but I look at all the posts of people that lost 100lbs in 10 months or a year and I think why can't I do that. My ideal weight for my height is apparently 150lbs. I will get there, even if it takes me 2 years or more.
Does anyone do the 30 day shred and miss days? Does it work like that? I'm looking for something else to do but on the days I work I leave the house at 6.30am and don't get in til 10pm so don't have the time to add in exercise those days unless I get up even more stupid early than I already do. Can I just do it on days I don't work, the same as I do the gym?0 -
I would try to add a couple early mornings each week. I started doing that a couple months back and now I do it 4 days a week. I find it wakes me up for the day.0

Your diary isn't open to see if food is the problem. Get some more friends! I have quite a few (40?) and its awesome seeing their progress. Getting eating ideas from their food diaries, etc. And am doing a challenge with my group starting this week. There are over 50 people in the group. Last 8 week challenge there was over a 280 lb loss among members! Wow. I want to be part of the winning team this next challenge. Didn't do last one cuz i had just joined MFP and wasn't sure what the heck I was doing.
Keep reading the forums and getting ideas. Sounds like you work a ton or one heck of a commute. What about walking at lunch time? I used to walk every day at lunch when I was working.
You can do this. Also losing slowly is a good thing. Its becoming a lifestyle change and you won't have to deal with loose skin issues! At least that is how I justify my puny loss of only 1 - 2 lbs a week. Yes at this rate its going to take me at least a year but its all good. Taking it one day at a time.
