Making up a protein shake in advance?

How far in advance can I make up a shake? (milk, powder, whatever else..) I find that if I come home post workout I do not have the space to make it as all the children need me for something, if I made it up before I went then I could drink whilst walking/driving home..
Would that be ok?

Try and get a baby milk powder container, like the ones you use to keep formula in, take the milk in the shaker and add the powder when you have finished your workout and then it's not sitting made up for hours as I find they go gloopy.0

I'm actually going to try it today. By the time I get home from the gym, I have totally burned of my breakfast, and have a negative net calories. Mine is only protein powder, almond milk and PB, so I am going to blend it up in a mason jar and take it with me to drink in the car. Its only 30F outside, so I think it will still be cold...0 -
Freeze them in glass jars and take them out of the freezer before you leave for the gym so they'll be thawed by the time you get home.0

I make my shakes up to two hours beforehand and just shake them by hand well before drinking. Always works for me...0

i made mine at 7am this morning, and have stuck it in the fridge at work to have this afternoon before i leave (about 3.30pm). i find it just needs a good shake as it separates a bit if its stood for a long time.
just make sure you keep it refridgerated if you make it with milk.0 -
I measure out the milk and put it in a thermos flask with a couple of ice cubes and put the powder in the shaker.
Then mix it up post workout - simples!0 -
I think you would be fine.
I have made shakes and let them sit for hours before drinking them. I have just found they need to be mixed up again and than they are good to go.0 -
Get a smartshaker. When you see, you'll understand.0

I sometimes make my shake before my workout and that during my workout, instead of water.0

Good idea. It staying cold is not an issue here ATM, hasn't gone over 5 degrees here for weeks0 -

I use a USN Tornado shaker, same thing, available at Holland and Barrett if you can't wait, or online.
You can mix it first, then remix later, but it's not as pleasant.0 -

Yep, basically same thing.
If in UK the Tornado shaker is £3.99 at www.argos.co.uk0 -
Even better, get it in town AND cheap. It really is leak proof too, not like some other shakers.
