Too Much Protein

I seem to be to high on my protein when I use the food log. What are the dilemmas to having too much protein?

Protein is good! MFP estimates it too low anyway. Don't worry you will not consume TOO MUCH protein.

You may hold on to your lean body mass, muscle is preserved on a caloric deficit, and you may also build muscle with it. With these factors in mind, it may be a good idea to freak out now.

Protein is good, but if you are low on your carbs and are taking in only protein, if you go back to carbs the weight comes back easier. Otherwise, you're fine.

when you say high, how high is your protein? i'm pretty sure you don't have anything to worry about. i easily eat 150-200g per day. but i want big muscles :)

If you are still set on MFP's original settings, protein is generally set very low.
I personally try to get 90-120g of protein a day.

    Don't worry about it.

If you said "too much Doritos" that would be a problem.

Just make sure you drink plenty of water, at least 80 oz per day. This keeps your kidneys happy.

I don't know if you are trying to lose weight or not, I assume you are. My sister in law works as an exec for a hospital and she was over weight. She went on their weight loss program that put her on 1200 calories a day and 80 grams of protein a day. The protein helps burn fat. In about 9 months she has lost 85 lbs. I saw her on Thanksgiving and she looks and feels great.

I give you that info as a guide. I am not a nutrician!!

too much, like over 1.5 g per lb of lean body mass would potentially damage your kidneys or lead to some major constipation.

    Classy.

Bodybuilders use the benchmark of 1g of protein per pound of lean body mass. so for me, that would be 140 g of protein per day, which is exceptionally hard to hit.

That is soooo not true. EVERY single time I have cut carbs and done an "ATKINS" type eating plan I am overcome by watery stools. Sorry to burst your bubble!

Just read about consuming to much urine and it really does come out in your urine.

My trainer has me on 1g protein per pound of my weight. I'm doing metabolic resistance training. (circuit)
