Why do I still weigh the same?

The first week that I started exersizing and watching what I ate I lost 3.5lbs! The next week I lost 1.5 more and I was so excited!!

Now, for the past 3 weeks I have weighed exactly the same. I have been working out (yoga, circuit training, hauling fire-wood from the shed, cardio). And I have been eating pretty good.

I do not go out and eat, I do not drink alcohol. I prepare meals at home and take them to work for lunch...I always go a little over my calorie goal, but not very much, like 100 to 200. Can that be what is keeping me the same weight? Or is it muscle?

My measurements are the same too...

Any advice would be helpful.

Are you eating your exercise calories? If so make sure you are SURE about how many you are actually burning. I was WAY overestimating my elliptical calories because MFP uses an optimistic number. I bought a HRM and found out how few I was burning. Now I eat my exercise calories - but ONLY the ones I'm sure of. I don't eat calories for stair climbing or moderate walking - I just assume that's going toward my calorie deficit.

If you're not eating your calories from exercise it might just be your body reacting to the new load - I'd drink plenty of water and keep at it, your measurements should start to go down pretty soon.

I think its normal. Everybody reaches a plateau where they just can't seem to drop any more lbs but if you keep pushing you'll start dropping again.

what is your caloric goal? have you readjusted since you've lost weight? as you lose weight your goal will lower, however never should drop below 1200. it could be that you're going over more than 100 to 200 calories if you should have dropped.

if not, i agree. keep doing what you're doing and it will start coming off again. and take measurements! if you're doing a lot of exercise, your muscles may be retaining fluid to help heal after a workout. the scale can lie! lol

Thank you everyone. I did adjust my calorie goal, and I am eating my burned calories, but maybe I am calculating too many calories burned. I appreciate you taking the time to give me advice :) I'm staying at it and hopefully next week I will see something different!
