Changing my settings

Hello All!!

I have been on the site for nearly 2 months now and I have lost 15lbs. I was wondering if the site will change my calorie intake by itself based on weight loss like on weight watchers? Or should I change it by myself?

Replies

  • The site changes it automatically as long as you input your current weight.

If you are worried about MFP not changing your caloric intake, you can go into the "Goals" section and update it yourself.

It doesn't for me (I use the iPhone app). I have to go into settings and change my weight loss goal to something else, and then back to my 1.5 lbs per week in order to adjust the caloric goal. I've noticed that on average it goes down by 10 calories for every 2 lbs lost.

Thank you for the tips! Mine has not changed yet, and I have lost 15lbs. I think I will try to change it manually!

As you do some of your previous diary entries will go into the red but I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for the heads up ay1978pa! I just changed my goal so that I will be losing 2lbs a week instead of 1.5. It dropped me down a little less than 400 calories. So I will see how that goes! Thank you everyone!

"Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) quantifies the number of calories you burn in a day. This measure is best estimated by scaling your Basal Metabolic Rate to your level of activity. TDEE is critical in tailoring your nutrition plan to desired fitness goals."

Check out fitness frog, it has some great calculators.
  • Mine seems to change every time I lose weight. It tells me to eat more calories, right now it's at 1,790 which is a little high (I dont eat all those calories)
