Ack! i stress eat at work!

Ok... I have multiple issues with eating, like emotional eating, not filling out my logs, too much beer, and more. But, in the interest of doing things one thing at a time, I'd like to STOP stress / boredom eating at work. There are always sweets and candy around my office and there always will be, so I need to figure out a way to break the habit of grabbing a piece of candy or a snack every time i go to the front of the office (which is something I have to do at least 15x per day, so it adds up fast!). I try to quit but I only make it through a day or half a day, and then I'm right back at it. I know I should be able to just tell myself to stop, but somehow that just doesn't work.

Does anyone out there have any tricks or tips that they used to break this habit? Gum is out of the question, can't chew gum and talk to people at work.

Like any other habit, it took time to get into this routine, may take a few weeks to break it. I put an office challenge together for healthy eating, and it took almost a year, but almost everyone is on the same page and rarely brings in junk. We have all also gotten into fitness challenges together, and I now weight train with one, and do another class with another.

The best thing you can do for yourself honestly is one thing- fill out your diary- every day, every bite, to the best of your ability. When you see the calories adding up from the snacks- you will start to think twice about each trip up there.

Give yourself a personal challenge to only stop to grab something 5 X a day- make yourself aware- and you can only really do this if you log your food.
Success in anything requires commitment, and it requires discipline.

Losing weight is hard, being overweight is hard.............choose your hard

Make sure you have a desk drawer or cooler or whatever packed with healthy treats at work. Have a good variety so you can cover any possible cravings, sweet/salty/etc. rather than just one item that you might look at and go nah and then head out to the treat area. Munchie type snacks that are healthy but take a longer time to eat are always good (100-calorie packs of microwave popcorn - a bunch of baby carrots, etc.). Breath mints or hard candy is good too - can't eat sweets if your breath is nice and minty fresh - usually the flavors clash! Fill up that water bottle every time you go to the front of the office too.
