Help - Runner in Need

Hi everyone,

So, I had my ACL replaced about 3 years ago and over the past year I have been running a lot more and racing in road races. I just did a five mile run on Thanksgiving Day and ever since then, my knee has been bothering me.

I have gone to the doctor and she told me it's just scar tissue that I am aggravating. I have pain directly below my knee cap right on the incision of where my ACL was placed into my knee.

Anyone have any tips on how I can either A. stabilize this area while running (i.e. compression sleeve) or B. a way to strengthen that leg so that I don't have this pain anymore?

Any and all suggestions are most welcome!

Thanks!

I'd ask my Dr. for a prescription to see a Physical Therapist. Even to go for just one session so they can show you how to strengthen that area. I've worn compression sleeves for my leg before and they kind of helped...you could give that a shot!

I agree. Go see someone. If it is just scar tissue there should be a way to get over it. Most good running-shoe stores know of decent physical therapists who have expertise with runners.
