Looking for the HEALTHIEST but TASTIEST food?

Hey Everyone! My name is Diana, I am 23 and my son is almost 1 so its time to get my fitness back on track. I have about 80-90lbs to lose. What is a good healthy but tasty food plan? And also what are healthy drinks and are there any things I can add to water to make it taste better? (I can't stand plain water) ... Any advice is deeply appreciated! Thank you for your time :)

Get water flavoring, like Mio or crystal light (or something like that).

Also, just eat whole foods, foods that are not processed, and as far as sweets go, go for them.

What you need to do, and know, is that if you track your calories to a T, and stay under maintenance level (in a caloric deficit) then you will lose weight. Calories is a form of energy, and if you burn more then you take in, then your body is forced to use what you have. Use MFP settings to find your maintenance level, and dont get too eager, set it to 1 lb loss a week, this will put you at a 500 cal deficit (1lb=to 3500cal(energy); so 7 x 500 = 3500 a week, 1 lb loss). The slower you lose weight, the longer you will keep it off in the long run!

To me, a healthy diet is one that consists of plenty of protein, a decent amount of fat, and a variety of carbohydrates to include plenty of vegetables. Balance is the key to getting all your nutrition. I am not one for a plan. I usually just check the grocery ads for what meat is on sale and base my meal planning from that. Add in dairy, grains, and fruits and veggies, and you're solid.

Tasty and healthy food means you are making it yourself. As mentioned above, skinnytaste.com is a great resource for recipes as is Eatingwell.com which even breaks it down into subcategories, like "500 calorie dinners." Both sites have recipes that taste great but don't take hours of kitchen time.

    Welcome to MFP!

If you don't like plain water try adding things like cucumber, ginger, lemon, lime, orange or mint to give it a bit of flavour but still be good for you. Drink lots of it!

Where you can, cook everything from scratch so you know exactly what you're eating. Eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Use MFP's Food Diary to track everything you eat. Apart from anything else it can be useful to look back on to see where you might be going wrong or what you're doing right. Get organised and plan your meals in advance as much as you can. Don't completely deny yourself the things you like to eat, but make them fit within your daily calorie goal. If you leave room in your diary for the odd treat you're less likely to feel like you're missing out and are also less likely to binge.

If you're new to MFP I would also recommend making some friends as it's nice to have some support and encouragement. Also read the forums as you'll learn a hell of a lot from the other users. Good luck!

Also check out hungry-girl.com. She has some really tasty recipes, great tips, substitutions for lightening up foods, and she also does healthy imitations of foods you'll find at restaurants.
