Motivation when you're sick?

Today's been the first day since I joined MFP that I've been sick. To the point where I could barely crawl out of bed to the bathroom. It's just a nasty cold, and I'm being a wuss, but I wanted to die.
I feel bad enough for skipping out on the gym, but the entire day, my body was just saying "feed me! I want energy!". So I gave it what it wanted. I tried to stick to fruit, but ended up resorting to leftover pasta, pumpkin pie, fresh OJ and Lucozade. I didn't end up excessively over my daily calorie limit (1200 without exercise), but I did go over by a few hundred. I figure I can probably do extra at the gym or cut back on calories in the next few days to make up for it.
I'm just wondering how everyone else copes with the demands of their body when they're sick? Do you just give up for a day or 2 and wait till you're better and ignore the extra calories/lack of exercise? I guess I was mainly concerned that if I didn't give in and give myself the energy, then the cold would hang around.

You need to rest your body when you're sick. If you don't allow yourself to fully recover, it'll just get worse. Trust me, when I first started, I pushed my body and worked out while sick with pneumonia. I ended up being unable to do anything for a week and a half because I didn't rest and recover.0

I go to maintenance calories when I am sick and avoid the death kiss of "comfort" junk food. You will feel better in the short and long run with this plan.
Don't drink calories. Drink x2 water.
Don't go to the gym. If you can, go for a leisurely stroll when you are feeling better; save the gym and your gym buddies from your germs.
Hope you get better soon! :flowerforyou:0
