Hi Everyone!
My 30th birthday is coming up in 4 weeks and my hubby is taking me to the Caribbean to celebrate. Very excited but also unnerved by the prospect of being in a bikini. He has been using this site and suggested I should too.
I can really use some advice/inspiration. I'm 5'9 and I weigh 141lbs (64.4kg) I would really like to weigh 60kg by the time we go on holiday. (29th december). I've been doing the 30 day shred by Gillian Michaels and I've been trying to keep my calories around the 1500 mark. However, my weight has stayed pretty much the same. Some days a bit up, some days a bit down. I have many events to attend in the next few weeks, making things even harder.
Help please!

How long have you been on 30DS for? I didn't lose an ounce for a week, then lost 4lb in the space of a weekend!0

I did 3 weeks of the 30DS and gained 2 lbs. I did however loose some inches and have the sexiest back ever. JM is not actually very good for loosing pounds, but she is amazing for making you look hot.0

I've been doing the shred on and off for about 30 days. I started doing it at the end of october and did level one in one go, then had some days off at level two, and now i'm on level 3 and again, had some days off in between. (damn festive season!) The longest i've done level 3 is for about 9 days straight. Clearly i don't have much of a "plan". Just thought i'd be good and just do level 3 from her on in until we go away.
Think i'm still a bit of looking hot although I definitley have more definition than before0 -
Make your goal "fat loss" and not "weight loss". The scale is very deceiving and often doesn't have anything to do with how you look. There are women here who are the same weight as when they started, or even a few pounds more but they are smaller and they are so hot it is hard to believe they are the same weight. This is because muscle is more dense than fat. Lose the fat and you can see the sleek muscles. Four weeks is not a lot of time, I'm certain that you will be feeling a bit better.0

For proof of this, Go to this thread that I was literally just reading:

This girl looks completely different but the scale hasn't changed! Take your measurements0 -
Thanks for the link... i do feel like I must have lost some inches as some clothes are fitting looser. It's a shame I haven't meassured myself or taken pictures. Perhaps I will up the exercise I'm doing at the moment or use heavier weights. I'm still using baby weights. 2lbs each!0

You're already at a healthy weight for your height!
I would focus on your measurements, as other people have suggestion. If you're not happy with your looks, I would think it has much more to do with body fat % and less to do with the number on the scale...
If it was up to me
- Take some measurements and stop weighing yourself. You weight is probably going to have very minimal changes (may even go up), and it's a false way of seeing your progress or lack thereof. The scale is only going to frustrate you
- Stop using the baby weights! After doing the same workout for weeks, you're not getting much of a benefit anymore, especially if you're not pushing yourself. Up it to 5-8 pounds, then you'll feel the difference
- And try not to stress too much. Your weight is healthy, your little avatar picture is cute, your husband is taking you on vacation! There's a limited amount of progress you can make in such a short time, I wouldn't risk taking the fun out of the vacation by worrying so much about your shape
Good luck!0 -

If you're not happy with your body at that weight, I don't think JM is the way to go. Pick up a heavy lifting program. Trust me.0

I'm using the 3lb ones on the shred- it KILLS my arms doing that first lot of squat presses but I think I could probably manage heavier weights for some of the other exercises so I'm working them in.
On the topic of the weight- if you are finding it difficult to carry on by the end of the set, then you have the right weight level. Your muscles do not know if you are lifting 2lb or 5lb, they just 'know' they're working hard. If you can't feel the burn by the end of it and don't feel like another 4 reps will be the death of you, then you probably need to up the weight.
As has been said, you are already a healthy weight. Just focus on toning up. Stick to the exercise dvd, maybe work in some extra cardio such as jogging a few times a week/ going to the gym, and focus on eating well & healthily. You may not lose much weight but in a month you should definitely feel more toned.
Good luck, and don't get too obsessed and make yourself miserable! xxx0 -
Thanks everyone! I'm liking this website, you are all very kind and give excellent advice.
I'm ordering new weights and I've also just ordered Jillian's 6week-6pack. Has anyone done it? I will report on my progress.
I'm also taking some measurements tonight. :flowerforyou:0 -
Your current weight is below my goal weight of 145lbs and I'm an inch shorter than you. Maybe just focus on firming up? Jillian's videos will definitely help with that. Also, running really helps slim down my waist and hips.0
