How to fast

Hey guys. I'm trying to do the 5:2 fasting, and was wondering how long the fast is actually supposed to last. Is it 24 hours? Can you have a light early lunch on Tuesday at 13:00, and then have your next meal on Wednesday at 14:00? Does the fast start after your last meal, or when you start feeling hungry?
Thanks
Thanks

Hi nKittie
I'm starting this tomorrow!
From what I understand, you just eat normally (with moderation!) on 5 days, and then choose 2 non-consecutive days to eat no more than 500 cals. I don't think it matters how/ when you eat the 500 cals - I'm just going to have 3 very small meals of around 150-200cals each. A fiend of mine has been doing this for a few weeks and has lost a stone0 -
Hi Sarah, good luck with your fasting? I find it quite hard to have such small meals, especially in the evening when I'm at home. But I saw it some magazine that one chap was starting his fast half way through the day, saying that it's easier because you actually sleep through most of it... Hence my question!0

i started last week. i wasnt really sure which one i wanted to do, the 16:8 or 5:2 dicided today that i will do the 5:2 and eat 600 cals on the 2 days and eat normal 1600 cals on other days. I eat 300 cals at lunch and 300 cals for supper. It is easier if you have a salad and fruit with a light dressing or balsamic vinegar for lunch and veggies and grilled chicken for dinner. Im just trying it out because i just dont want to eat 1600 cals each day.0
