Can you please show the certification of used scales so that I can confer there has been no tampering? If you are unable to show, please forward the items to be weighed.

Just to make clear the whole "fat weights more than muscle" misunderstanding going on, which i've constantly tried to explain to people.

    It's about volume.

Also, more muscle = higher metabolism.

I think you are simply wrong. See how much more fat there is than muscle? clearly the muscle weighs more than the fat.

Ok lets take my 5 pound cat, he has both muscle and fat. If it was the same, he would weigh 10 pounds! See what I am saying?

I hear muscle weighs more than fat though

No - its a 10lb dumbbell that weighs more than a 10lb box of paper.

And throw the baby in the pool to test this....

Put them both in the tub. The muscle sinks. That means muscle is heavier than water.
Fat floats, so fat weighs less than water.
    So

    Fat < Water < Muscle
    therefore
    fat < muscle.

If EVERYONE could just not be a grammar/spelling/etc nazi this wouldn't be such an issue! Everyone knows 5lb of two different things still weighs 5lb. People express the sentiment differently and everyone gets their panties in a wad over it.

Protip: Unwad those panties and move on!

    'zactly.

One thing that should be noted is that the so called "increased metabolic effect" from extra muscle mass is extremely miniscule.

    Here's some info

I think you look mature for your age and he looks young for his age, definitely. But you guys must have a cage match, it is the MFP Doppelganger rules.

Unfortunately, I didn't see who picked up the hat first, so there's no telling who was the original.

FINALLY! I've been thinkin it all day.
  • But, how much does your purse weight?
  • Maybe what they *mean* is that, for the same volume, muscle will weigh more?

Or maybe I'm just wishful thinking.

yeap, that is the case actually.

I've dropped in total 162 pounds (i re-gained 20 pounds after letting myself go for a year) and due to this time focusing on getting more muscle and burning off the fat, my size is nearly the same, but i'm heavier on the scales. The people i help can't wrap it around their heads when i showed pictures and comparisons of my sizes and weight, how i could be "heavier" but still the same clothes size.

This post was actually just something for me to bookmark and link in a "things you need to know about weight loss" guide i'm writing, so i don't keep repeating and advertise a bit MFP since i love this site.

However i won't do that, due to the malicious posts of the MFP members, which quite shocked me since it's in the motivation and (more importantly) support section, and everyone is taking it as a chance to unleash their bitterness, forgetting there are more people than themselves trying to get some information.
