I might join a gym

Some gyms let you pay a small fee to use their facilities for the day. On days you feel like you need some interaction you could pay the small difference. I believe gold's is $15 a day? Or maybe attend a class at the gym. I believe gold's is $5 a class. I only know gold's vecause that is where I go, prices may vary between states though. I don't know. I would reccomend that though...so you don't waste your home gym and can still spend time with your family :)
It's not a terrible suggestion all in all, but for $10 they can join the gym and go as often as they like. Seems silly to pay by the day when the monthly rate is so low.

Go for it..I just re-joined at gym after a few years of working out from home and I really like the gym more than working out at home.

Cool thanks. I think I am going to go take a look. 1st negative, there's no parking. It's all metered parking on the street, a very very busy street, and paralell parking. No biggie, just a pain in the @$$ when it's busy. 2) I do more of a circuit training style, and that doesn't work well in gyms. People get mad because you'll tie up two things, like a squat rack, and a back exercise thing (pull up bar or whatever) and go back and forth. Actually, I probably need to tie up 3 or 4 things. It's just the way I roll, and waiting just blows the whole purpose of it. For people that don't do those kinds of workouts, they get mad because you're tying up multiple areas, and weights, and bars, and all that.

I'm looking at negatives trying to remind myslef why I left gyms in the first place. LOL

I'll go check the place out before I sign up to make sure it has what I need. I also when to go when it's busy, like 5 - 6 pm so I can see how the waits are for the weights and all that. If it's jam-packed, I wont be too quick to sign up.

I have a gym in my basement and I love it. The only reason I'd join another gym is for access to a swimming pool.

I actually don't like random people talking to me when I'm trying to workout. I don't think any gym could ever be as clean as I'd like it to be. I don't like having to avert my eyes in the locker room because of all the naked people wandering around. I don't like the extra time traveling to and from a gym takes out of my day. I don't like the hours that the gym is open (my workout is usually half over by 5 am)... my home gym is where it's at! That and the great outdoors.

I'm going against the grain here, but save your money! Or take that money you'd spend on a gym and make your own gym even better.

I was just looking through the 24 Hour Fitness website and they offer a free 3-day pass. So, I'm going to try that first and see how I like the gym before I join. Another worry I have about the location is its not in a great area, its downtown, which is full of weirdos and a very undesirable crowd. So, I want to check it out before I join. It's on the way home from work, so it's ideal, from that perspective. If I am supposed to workout and decide to skip it, I'll drive right past it feeling that heavy feeling of guilt. Lol.

I'm sorry if you guys are tired of me posting about my gym issue. Lol. After reading the Yelp reviews at the gym I was thinking about joining, it was a big N O. 1 star for about 97% and the complaints were legit. OMG! I would be so unhappy.

The next option is a 24 hour fitness super sport, which will then be $34/mo. Still cheap, but now might put that fee in a competitive range with other local gyms. Except there is no contract and no sign up fee. I probably can't beat that if I try.

I'm going to go visit the new facility, which pretty much has all 5-star ratings, and check it it today. If I like it, I'll probably sign up on the spot.

I'm a service snob, so unkempt equipment, and dirty locker rooms and all that is just inexcusable. So, while I understand a few people that will say a gyms a gym, it's pretty bad, (guys making out in the locker room, holes in the prison style shower room, rusty equipment). I can't deal with that. I have always had very good luck when using Yelp. It's pretty much my bible when I'm looking for something new.

Oh, the new facility is a further drive, but that's ok. I can come home from work a different way, and it's on the way home. So, that's a plus.

Just to close out this topic, I joined one yesterday. A much nicer one than the one that is close to me. It is 5 miles away, but it's huge. It's a 24 Hour Fitness Super Sport. More than the $10/month, more like $34/mo...still a steal. I'm so happy. Thanks for your support and guidance.
