Alkaline vs Acidic Diet - Paleo response

I have been doing the Paleo diet since July.
Before that I had stomach issues e.g. gastritis.
Now the symptoms have returned, it seems, after some months of Paleo.
I have read on this site,. http://rense.com/1.mpicons/acidalka.htm that you should have a 60/40 alkaline vs acidic ph balance.
With eating so much protein i.e. meats, eggs as my base diet....is Paleo not compatible for me?
Your thoughts?

Possibly. If you are experienceng GI problems, your best bet would be to consult a GI doctor and/or dietician.0

If its actually a problem then increase the greens that are more alkaline...0

I'm VERY surprised that you are having negative health issues after changing to a paleo lifestyle. ALL of my health problems have been resolved by the change, except for a little joint pain (which is now far less than it was). I had a whole collection of gastro-intestinal issues that are now GONE. Since you had relief for quite a few months, I would think that paleo helped the condition and perhaps there is another explanation for why it has returned.
I haven't given much thought (research) to the alkalinity/acidity because I don't put much weight in it. Perhaps I should look into it just to be a little more knowledgeable. However, I also study biology, anthropology, and ethnography I do believe that the natural human diet is animal-based. My own diet is very animal and fat based causing nothing but improved health and weight loss.
Have you explored whether you may need to selectively eliminate other foods that could be causing you problems? For instance, for my joint pain, I could try eliminating nightshades such as tomatoes, pepper, eggplant etc. Also, besides food, how's the quality of your water and environment? I have lots of problems with contaminants and unfortunately almost all consumer products are loaded with them intentionally. Did you make any changes to your home? New carpet, new furniture, maybe a new car....? How about EMFs?
I agree that food is first and foremost in regards to health, but there are other factors playing a role as well.0 -

I also studied anthropology and ethnography as well. I do believe in the Paleo.
In March I had a round of antibiotics, to kill the h.pylori bacteria that was supposed to have been the cause of my gastro-intestinal problems among others.
Then in July, started Paleo. I felt great! No stomach issues...periods are better, more energy.
But for about 3 weeks now, I find that my stomach symptoms seem to be coming back. My weekly foods stay the same mostly. I buy the same stuff...and have done so since July.
So I thought maybe it is a "build up" of too much of "something". I don't know what that something is?
In the beginning I certainly ate an awful diet filled with carbs, the worse ones! I thought maybe certain meats were not so acidic...but it seems all meats, fish are!!! what the hell!
Is is possible I need to add MORE vegetables, which means, MORE CARBS to my targets?
Quite annoying...
...and oh...after eating Greek Yogurt twice (on tow separate occasions) , I was in pain.0 -
It might be good to go to a MD who is willing to give you a broad test, or an ND, naturopath, who might be more willing. They can look at a lot of factors that may affect how you are digesting food, even good clean food.

Are you drinking coffee? Last year I had to cut out the coffee because it was making me feel sick to my stomach and causing lots of runs. It was probably the horribly cheap coffee that I get, but it is all that I can afford right now. My husband drinks it regularly, but I can only have a cup now and then. Now I drink tea for my hot cup in the morning.0

Have you ever researched prebiotics and probiotics? It might be that those strong antibiotics have wiped out the good bacteria in the gut, not just the H. pylori, and you may need help re-establishing the good bacteria.0 -

Well it sounds like you have been on the right track. More veggies might be the answer, but I can't speak from experience because I actually do best on "fewer" veggies, which is probably still more than someone on a SAD. Some people can't tolerate any amount of dairy, including yogurt.
It's hard for me to say "see a doctor" because they are products of their limited education and pharmaceutical company/government propaganda and doctors and nurses cause a lot of deaths in my community; makes me very bitter against them. However, I agree with Caribougal that it would be good to look into things further. (I have no access to Naturopaths so have no experience with which to speak on that, but if given the choice that's probably the only kind of doctor that I would see). However, if more antibiotics are recommended I'd be careful with that since they cause more harm than good in most cases, especially when it comes to intestinal health, which in turn affects our total health.
Keep in mind the environmental contaminants too. The fact that the paleo lifestyle initially improved the problem indicates to me that the problem is not caused by that.0 -
Since starting Paleo...I did start drinking coffee a few times a week. I also a few back started drinking alcohol again in the evenings (wine).
Before that I had stopped due to my problems...and cut out coffee, alcohol.
Things were going so well on Paleo...I kinda thought, "hey, maybe I can actually have coffee sometimes...or hey maybe it IS OK to have some wine at night".
Maybe for me NOT!!! Which I don't mind.
With healthcare a bit different in Europe, I wouldnt want to pay for tests outside the Health System here.....but am trying to make daily mental notes about what might trigger an episode.
I have bought a round of Probiotics and started taking them today. I have also started making a smoothie normally with celery, carrots, strawberries, coconut milk and parsley.
Will see how that helps.0
