REWARDS

I have always been told that you have to set up mini goals and reward them for reinforcement. I never did this before, but I recently decided that I need a new pair of yoga pants... and decided I will buy them when I hit 145lbs. Just wondering what everyone else uses for goals? And how often they reward attaining them??

I decided today, as my new incentive, that if I can keep within my calories for the next two weeks, then I get a new workout outfit. I'm going by time rather than weight as sometimes the scale just won't budge, and I don't want to let myself get discouraged.
Here is to wishing you great success on reaching your goal and your reward.0 -
Purses and shoes are great rewards because the still fit even if you continue to lose weight!!!0

That's a great idea, rewarding doing well calorie-wise! Haha, and you can nevvverrrr go wrong with shoes, of course!0

My rewards have been workout goal related. When I got up to running 3 miles I bought a HRM. When I got up to running 5 miles I got a MP3 player.
Clothing can be hard rewards when you are in the middle of losing weight because they may not last long.0 -
I've been rewarding myself with things that are becoming necessities- like new clothes. So far I've only allowed myself to get a new bra and some new pajamas, because I had no more of either one that fit well enough to justify continuing to wear them. Within the month I'm going to have to finally break down and buy myself some new jeans, as well as new workout clothes. I just don't have anything that even comes close to fitting anymore. I feel bad about buying these things, since I know I (hopefully) won't be able to wear them for long, but if I call them my "rewards" then it makes me feel a little less guilty.0

Mine is clothes too but not workout ones. I have my "goal" outfit. Every once in a while when out shopping I see something that I love and I will by it one size smaller than I am and I keep it hanging on the back of my bedroom door or in my closet door so I see it all the time and I have that feeling of dying to want to wear it. Right now my goal outfit is still in the stores because I want to be at a certain weight to get it. I know exactly what it is and where it is (Rock & Republic Jeans and a "hot" top) and when I get there (my weight) I am going to by the pair that fit just right! Also as motivation, in my gym locker I have 2 pictures of me at my heaviest weight, one is with my daughter when she was 6 months old and I look awful and the other is with my husband at a wedding where I thought I looked good but the picture tells a different story- each time I go in I look at both pictures and it reminds me that what I am doing is sooooooo worth it. That works better than the goal outfit as far as motivation is concerned!!0

Rock & Republic jeans! : ( I loved mine, but sadly they are in the "too big" side of my dresser now. Transitioning to smaller sizes IS hard, so sometimes they do need to be your goals. My next rewarded goal is in the middle of my weightloss so I'm opting for a smaller size, but yoga pants are pretty stretchy, so I think I'll be ok in them for awhile.0

I never even thought to reward myself for reaching goals on time. The feeling of self worth and accomplishment for achieving them has always been reward enough for me. New clothes are definitely a good reward though! I recently returned a pair of jeans that I hadn't worn yet, as the others ones I bought the same day are already starting to slide off. The next pants I buy will be a size or two smaller shorts!0

My first reward to myself is going to be a full body massage when I reach 25lbs lost (less than 5 lbs away! ) And, to be honest, I would have rewarded myself with the first 10 or 15 lbs lost if I would have thought about it  . I plan on rewarding myself again when I lose more, but haven't decided what those will be yet. And, once I hit my goal weight (although, I'm still not quite sure what that is/should be  ) I am planning on a full-out shopping spree. And maybe a new Coach bag to go with it
But, ultimately, I agree with DrBorkBork - the accomplishment and the way I feel about myself trump all!0
