Best/worst food for braces

Since getting braces about 5 months ago, I've had a lot of food-related laughs.
The day I got them on, I went home and had rice for lunch. Holy cow, I might as well have taken
the rice and stuck it to my teeth.
So here's my short list of what people with braces should carry a toothpick for:
1) rice
2) couscous
3) salad (you thought those green things between your teeth were bad BEFORE braces?)
4) oreos (good if you like the pirate look)
5) poppyseed - anything

Oh, and I should add that the dried coconut that they sell at Costco - was worth breaking off a bracket.
However, my orthodontist wasn't very happy, so I guess I'll forego that for a while...

Easy things to eat with braces.... well... truthfully, I'm not sure there is anything that isn't liquid.

Anybody else out there have braces and suggestions?

i had braces for three years. Well worth it but now i always have to check my teeth while im eating out of habit.
I dont think it will ever go away sadly :(

I found when i had them i never ate steak or ribs and they broke off brackets.
But i always carried around a little brush pick that you can usually get in the dental isle, they are great for getting in the small spaces :)

I had braces in the 70s LOL. A lot has changed since then. Corn on the cob was and is a bad idea! I do like the idea of your pirate look though! Oh, toffey....bad. meg

I went in and had new wires put on yesterday afternoon and when I went home (love the pasta idea) - I tried to bite into a GRAPE with my front teeth - ouch!
It still amazes me how much they can do (and how weird/achy it is) with teeth.
While everybody told me it's a sure-fire way to lose weight, I've certainly learned to adapt well. :( Which is why I'm here. :)
    Thanks for the support! :)
