whole grain whole wheat including the germ water canola and modified palm and palm kernal oils, wheat gluten, salt, baking soda, sodium phosphate, fumaric acid, calcium propionate, monoglycerides, potassium sorbate, guar gum, L-cysteine, hydrochloride, modified cellulose.

I'm really good about reading labels, and usually stick to a diet of ingredients I understand. These are the one exception, and I just wanted opinions because I love them. Thanks!

Well, they are additives. I don't know how strict you are about your clean eating (only ingedients you understand), but some people aim for "80% of the time".

If you love them, I'd have them.

If you are being ultra strict on processed foods, then they're out.

I think on this forum you will find we tend to not label foods "healthy or unhealthy"... fi the calories and carb/fat/whole grain fit your nutritional program, then it is all good.

    Thanks,

I'm mostly strict about processed (I rarely eat desserts like cakes or cookies, canned soups, packaged things except chicken or whole grain cereals, or greek yogurt kind of things etc.)

However, I do use the wraps for a lot of things. They're just so versatile! I don't mind having a few unhealthy ingredients because I usually only use them during work out days, and since I eat pretty clean the rest of the time I suppose it's nothing to worry about. I'm definately in it for the long-haul so I suppose there's no reason to be afraid of a few slightly unhealthy ingredients.

    Thanks for your response!

Well I won't comment on how "healthy" it is or not, here's a gross-out factor: L-cysteine, a common ingredient in bread products, is derived from feathers and sometimes human hair. Yes, there may be human hair in your tortillas. I know it sounds gross and far-fetched, but do a little research if you don't believe me. That's the one ingredient I always read labels for because that just makes me feel sick thinking about it.

Thank you, I always make sure things fit my Macros before I eat them. I'm not worried about the ingredients much anymore!

Thanks for your reply. I did do some research about it whilst waiting for responses, but it really doesnt bother me that it comes from ducks. Human hair isnt used to make the tortillas. The same chemical is in human hair, though. That wouldn't be legal (at least I don't think so!) I'm not vegan, so it doesn't bother me too much. People even take it as a supplement! It's not much different from fish oil i've heard.

This is the website i found that information on:

    Modified Palm Oil
Modified is not a regulated or scientific term and manufacturers can do any number of things to palm oil under the label of modified. It does not necessarily mean the oil is hydrogenated; sometimes modified oils simply have another ingredient added to them. Oils that have been modified to allow them to be solid at room temperature usually have added a saturated fat to the mix. These are still better for you than hydrogenated fats, but are now saturated and can be unhealthful if you eat them in large quantities. Another process to modify palm oil is interesterification, in which the fat or oil molecules are chemically mixed by forcing them into one another. This also creates a less healthful saturated fat and the effects of interesterification have not been thoroughly researched.

    from the internet
  • hydrochloride is derived from salt, so i wouldn't worry about that.

Palm oil is really bad. Not only for your body, but for the environment and the people that are exploited to get it.
