Christmas with a capital C

LOVE IT!!!!!!!!
I always say Merry Christmas!!!0 -
I send Christmas cards (and say Merry Christmas) to those friends who celebrate Christmas. I send Happy Holidays cards (and say that) to my Jewish and Buddhist friends. I celebrate Christmas and make no apologies for it and am well versed in its mixed pagan, Christian and whatnot history. I'm going for tradition not historical accuracy. Seems to work and keeps me from sounding like a Jack@ss. Hum, I do have other ways of sounding like a Jack@ss . . .0

The earliest x-mas were celebrated by drinking, sexual indulgence, singing naked in the streets (a precursor of modern caroling), etc.
So, basically you celebrate Christmas every weekend.0 -
Actually IXOYE is Jesus Christ Son of God Savior. The X means Christ, so X-mas is still Christ-mas. (Not that I am or am not a Christian, just clarifying)0

SIGH...downers, they are everywhere.0

Is there something wrong with that??0 -
I love how people think other people are trying to steal the christ from christmas when the holiday itself was ripped off from pagan religions.Even the date...lol
I get tons of flack this time of year for saying Happy Holidays at work, its ridiculous.
Some people are so self centered they just can not handle someone wishing them a nice day unless it is in the exact manner they think it should be spoken.
So true...I know that Christmas came about cause Rome wanted to counteract a pagan holiday..nonetheless I am a believer and shall always celebrate the birth of my Savior.
I have a friend who is a Pagan...to each their own..and she told me..."Felicitations on the birth of your god.."...I said thank you..cause I knew what she meant...I replied.."Merry Christmas"...its all good and we are going on 5 years of friendship...
Anyone can say Happy Whatever to me..my reply will always be Merry Christmas..cause I am celebrating my holiday..and they can say whatever cause they are celebrating theirs..pretty simple really0 -
I WAS gonna get into a debate on here, but then realised, what the hell? Somehow, even something as jolly and happy as Christmas has been stripped down, dissected and had the fun taken right on out of it. Are we not allowed to enjoy anything anymore?0
-
I say "Happy Jesus Birthday!"0
-
Ba- Humbug.
In all seriousness... I don't care what anyone says or types at me. So long as it doesn't look like this "MerRY cHRisTmaS"
Whatever you say to me, I'll say back. If you're Jewish and you want to wish me a Happy Hanukkah I'm going to wish it back at you! Simple as that.
(Wish I could see the vid the OP posted but I can't at work!)0 -
It SHOULD be Merry Christmas, in my opinion. Although Jesus Christ was a Jew, so he would celebrate Hanukkuk (sp?). I don;t like the acronym X-Mas. As someone one said, don't take the Christ out of Christmas. Merry Christmas Season!
Dumbest argument ever. If Christ was even real, he was born in the Summer, Christmas wasn't even celebrated in Dec until about the 5th century. If you want to keep the Christ in Christmas, better move the date back.0 -

You are awesome. I have looked into many religions and when I was looking into Paganism, my friend was a Catholic, she believed that the holiday was a rip off too, but non the less, we had mutual respect for each other and each others beliefs because there is no sense in arguing it.0 -

No matter how you slice it, jesus was a rape-baby. And most likely born in the summer.
.....and this is why threads get deleted. Seriously, can you not see that most of this is light-hearted from people on both sides of the discussion?0 -

Exactly, thought everything was fairly tongue in cheek. Even my eye-rolling earlier.0 -
Here's a good read by some good people in our Debate Group on here:

Big holidays of major religions that fell within 2-3 weeks of Christmas time last year
- Christmas (Christians)
- Hannuka (jews)
- Eid (Muslims)
- Holiday shopping (capitalism)
So thats 4 religions. Christmas is as much about Christ as Dr. Oz is about health
Don't forget Kwanzaa. That said....I think it depends on the person and the family. For me, Christmas is about Christ and my kids will know the reason we celebrate it.
Exactly! It's all about how your family celebrates....My family keeps Christ in Christmas. Not to say Santa won't visit. So, yes, I will say Merry Christmas!!
However, I do realize there are several other religious holidays at the same time. I wish you all a Happy Holiday as well!0 -
I love this season. I love the friendliest from friends and neighbors. I love giving gifts to people. I love getting that one thing I have been wanting all year long. I love eating food with family (i mean. i love it ;] ) I love baking for everybody. I love wearing ugly sweaters with friends. I love it so much. But I do not love Christmas.... I am indeed an atheist. I love it because of the feeling it gives you, not because of religion. At the end of the day, I like how it makes me feel. You do not get this feeling of togetherness in August. There is no need to attack others or push your views onto others because at the end of the day you need to remember why you love/dislike it. It does not matter what strangers think. So everybody, enjoy the season of great feelings! No matter how you celebrate it!0
