    Gustav Klimt

    ausschnitt_kuss_hi.jpg

    + basically every artist mentioned.

Thank you! I was beginning to worry I was the only one who knew about Klimt. I love his way of showing the grotesque and the beautiful at the same time.

I certainly know about Klimt! That painting posted is The Kiss. :-)

He just isn't one of my favorites. Not my style, really.

Marc Chagall is my all time favorite and I have this one hanging in my bedroom ^_^ Went to Chicago last month and saw American Windows at the museum, several of his paintings and the four seasons mosaic downtown. I <3 him.

    Dali & Degas for paintings

    Adams for photographs

I could spend all day in an art museum if I could. My favorite is the Walker in Minneapolis. The sculpture garden there is so fun to walk through.
  • Mine are easy:

    Van Gogh
    Cezzane
    Monet
    Manet
    Renoir
    Robert Frost
    Ansel Adams ( I know...)
    Picaso
    etc...

The Italians is one of the most BRILLIANT pieces of art I've ever seen. I come from an Italian family and totally get it! lol

I alos really like Michaelangelo. I didn't have an appreciation for him until I read The Agony and the Ecstasy, though.
  • Back in high school, our art assignment was to take a picture as inspiration and create a sculpture. They would then be displayed at an art open house. Myself and one other guy went all out and based it off Salvador Dali. He went for the more literal sculpture...The Ghost of Vermeer. It was awesome though!! HUGE! Probably about 10 feet tall....pretty much all papier mache! He won the actual award. However, mine was more just inspiration. I went with The Burning Giraffe. I made a giraffe coffee table. It had a lamp coming up through the middle. The head and legs were papier mache. There was a floating table (smaller) under the top...to create a body (and storage). The whole table had random animal prints all over. It was pretty neat! I won the peoples' choice award and was offered 500 dollars from a random person! I was pretty stoked about that! I wish I had a picture to show you guys. That's my Dali story. I really do love him!
