Calories burned cycling

How many calories do you burn while cycling?
I normally average around a 20 mph pace when riding and I weigh around 218 lbs. and usually burn just under 1000 calories per hour.

What about you?

Edit to add that I'm 6'-2".

I am 6'3 195lbs and wear a HRM when I ride. Mostly flat ride but keep a good pace of 18mph on avg (lost of stops on my route). For a typical hour long ride I am near your cals burned of 1,000-1100.

I'll be doing a 20 mile ride at lunch today. Mostly flat but a few good climbs.

19.2 mph pace today and burned 960 calories over 20 miles.

If you don't cycle, it's a GREAT way to burn calories, and it's a blast!

Wow! Some of these numbers are extraordinary. I guess I need to start actually cycling. I ride a stationary bike for an hour and burn between 750-800. (6'0"-205) I love riding because give me the benefits without having extreme stress on my knees.

Today, 38 min, avg. speed 11.7, 418 burned (248lbs), 75% uphill. I basically ride the same route every day of the week (it's my commute and my workout!) and run 250-450 depending on speed/distance. I'm using Strava for the data so I do take it with a grain of salt but it gives me an idea of where I'm at.

Probably in the 130-140 range on the flats and in the 160's on climbs.
Do you think my calorie burn sounds too high?
I have never had a problem with the accuracy of my HR monitor that I know of.
