What exercise do you ladies do at that time? I wont even leave the house for the first three days of mine, cause of the pains and the heavyness, but don't want to lose my motivation for exercise which is all too easy for me.

I guess I must be lucky, I do my regular routine. Even if I don't feel like it, my body feels soo much better when I'm done.0

Yoga, it is an absolute blessing. Some moves even help with the pain and cramping. Also light walking works for me, even if it is just around the house, though I usually want the fresh air so I will walk around the block.
Have you tried Evening Primrose for the pain? You can take it in pill, powder, as a tea or even rub the oil directly onto your lower stomach. I use the contraceptive pill to control the pain/flow, I was getting such bad pain that I would faint. I know it's not for everyone though so you need to find what works for you.0 -

I do whatever my normal routine is plus some extra push. I ALWAYS feel better after. Exercise cures headaches and cramps0 -
The same stuff I do every day. I find the pain and and everything that goes along with it gets better if I get a good workout in.0

I do nothing on day 1. Too much pain. After that I continue on as usual.0

I take it easy because of heavy flow. If a person doesn't have a heavy flow they have no idea how hard it is to deal with. No way am I going to the Y when I am flowing like a river.0

Ugh, lucky... Exercise does NOT cure my headaches and cramps. *kicks rocks* That being said, I listen to my body. Sometimes I do my normal routine, sometimes I do more, and sometimes I skip it altogether and sleep an extra hour.0 -
I am super antisocial and OCD during that time of the month, so I usually do deep cleaning on those days. I mean the hands and knees scrubbing, moving, vaccuming, heavy lifting stuff that I never want to do any other time. And it makes me feel so much better to see everything nice and clean. I don't count normal cleaning as exercise, but when I do it on those days I sweat up a storm!0

My exercise during PMS is grabbing a bowl and a lighter. I usually have to get to day three before I am back on my exercise routine.0 -
I do NOTHING the heaviest days which are usually day 2 and 3 for me. I learned that if I do exercise these days i am in MORE pain, and its much heavier. I find, doing regular cardio all month long (for me its the elipitcal, walking, weightlifiting) I do 5-6 days a week, helps make it not as bad, where I am in pain but I can get by on only pain meds one day or not at all (but still have pain). Your monthly is your body's way of healing, and starting fresh again. With so much busy stuff going on, its good to have a day or 2 of R&R.
Exercise is very very bad and anti-productive for heavy periods, it does not make me feel better, always worse so I won't reccomend it to anyone who has heavy periods.0 -
Exercising really does help with cramps! Be careful though, you do flow more during your exercise.

I saw an ad on the television about a particular brand of absorbent material device that allows one to run, ride a bike, etc. while wearing it in one's underwear. I'll see if Google can figure out which brand. Otherwise, I'll keep my eyes peeled and post the brand when I see the ad again. Cheers!0

I always get super heavy in the first few days, and I avoid working out like the plague. I would always get major pain in my back if I tried exercising those days. Also, just in general I feel gross during that time.0

So if you really don't leave the house (me either! I won't get in a car because of things possibly falling out from all the up and down) All that crap about it helping periods are for people who can leave the house, who have normal or lighter periods. I love exercise and was a dancer for years so I know how pushing myself lead to greater clots, and much more pain, and it increased the flow. I would say if you are worried about it, just stick to Yoga! (not power yoga) I would suggest scheduling your rest days but if you are like me you don't know when it will be here..a few months ago I kept pushing because I was overly determined and wound up delaying my period because I went too long on a rest day. But if you know, then just do that.0

Just do what you can. I try to keep up my routine, but I find keeping to a sensible diet hard.0

I've suffered from endometrious since I was 16,( settle down during my 20's & has now flared up in my mid 30's ) the cramps, clots, back pain, spasms down my legs & the flow is terrible, but I have found pounding the pavement to be both therapeutic & quite a relief to "some" of the symptoms. Everyone is different do what you feel you can do or just smash it......0

Exercise always makes pms pains worse for me. I do find stretching helps though, so yoga would probably help. but anything more intensive than stretching is too much. My first 3 or 4 days the most movement you get out of me is out of bed and to the couch. And even then its a struggle.0
