SO! ...for the past 7 weeks I have been more dedicated than I ever have been to going to my Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning bootcamp classes ..even though they are a 20 min drive away, at 6am, and I dont even walk in the door from work until at least 1130pm. But regardless, I have been going and I have been happy with the results. It took me from May - October to lose 11lbs (completely flaky with working out and whatnot and not necessarily trying that hard, just improving my eating habits). But in just 6 short weeks I have managed to lose another 11. Bringing my total up to 22lbs!
But as winter creeps up I'm worried about losing motivation. My first example of this happened yesterday morning. 455am - my alarm goes off ...i lay in bed until 515, trying to gain motivation to get up and go. But the bed ...it was just so cozy ...and my eyes ...were just so tired ...and you know, as long as I stayed inside I wouldnt have to touch the snow ...and then this line went through my head ..
"I've gone for 7 weeks in a row without missing a day ...so what if I stay in bed this time"
So that's exactly what I did ..and drifted back off to a lovely, warm sleep. But let me tell you ...when I woke up again ...at like 10am ...I've never felt so guilty about NOT going to the gym. That is a feeling I've never experienced before in regards to working out. It almost surprised me. And it's pretty much all I thought about all damn day.
So I decided that if by the time I got home from work last night, I still felt bad about my decision ..that I would get up and go this morning, on a day I dont usually go and on the day of the week that has been dubbed 'Cardio Thursday' around that building (cardio = sucky ...yup lol). And as it turns out, I did still feel guilty by the time I got home ...so I did set my alarm to get up this morning and go. And the same thing nearly happened again. BUT! at the last second, I sprung out of bed, cursed at myself for being a lazybutt ..and went off on my way.
I felt better the second my foot was in the door of that building ...and I need to concentrate on remembering that feeling. And that proud feeling you get after youve worked your azz off. I also need to remember the feeling of guilt, so I guess that would be the main reason for this post - so I can look back on it and remember exactly how I felt when I slipped up. And exactly how it felt to fix it!
And I will move on!
I guess it's true what they say ..
"the only workout you regret is the one you didnt do"
Wish me luck over the winter!!

Hey darlin!!!
Guess what!! You dont need motivation! You just need to keep working on what you are already proud of and THAT will motivate you!
yoovie what are you talking about?
What makes you proud?
Having visible proof of your dedication. Strengthening your will power. Overcoming inner and outer obstacles. These things make you rfeel really really really good apparently!!
So dont worry about looking for motivation! Instead - do those things. Track a streak and see how long you can drag it out before you have to break it. Celebrate victories over laziness or cold instead of the scale! Looking back and seeing that you didnt let anything get in your way YET?? THAT is motivating.
Dont look for motivation, go do what you love and the motivation will come surround you like a warm hug.
Cmon... you know it's true :P0 -
For me, I have to remember how much relief I feel when I'm actually at the fitness center, working out, and how guilty and wasteful it would have felt to not go. Just remember that one feeling of knowing you're bettering yourself instead of lying in bed, and it should be enough to drag you there the next time.0
