Plowing snow: snow-blower

I see there is an exercise entry for shoveling snow, but there is not one for plowing snow with a snow-blower. When I plow snow, I am out for typically an hour, then I come in covered in sweat and absolutely wore out muscles. That even happens with a self driving (it pulls itself along) snow blower, as you have to constantly work moving around a very heavy metal machine while walking on unstable terrain. Any ideas how many calories are burned for using a snow-blower?

Too many variables with the weight of the snow and weight of the snowblower and how much you have to wrestle with it.

I know exactly what you're talking about though :) Now that I have a HRM I'll definitely be using it if I have to clear a heavy snow this season for the heck of it.

Goodness, dont remind me. Snow season is upon us. I live in Chicagoland, and there is something very cool about getting up early, while its still dark, and clearing the driveway and sidewalks. All is still, and the only sounds you hear are the other snow blowers in the neighborhood.

    Or maybe that's just me?........

@btwalsh132 - I barely stifled a groan as I read your very realistic description of snowy mornings to come! Snow is pretty and I actually love shoveling it but I'm really not looking forward to driving in it this year. The other crazies on the road scare me more than the snow does - no one pays attention anymore!

Anyway, @arcticlynx - not sure how many calories that might burn. I'd suggest either investing in a good HRM or maybe log by splitting the time between walking slow and strength training?
