tone and weight loss

Has anyone found they gain waight if they start using weights to improve muscle tone?

    Been lifting for a couple months and haven't gained a pound. Granted, I'm just starting to get in to heavier lifting but I still eat at a deficit so I don't anticipate gaining.

    Some people may see a slight gain initially when they start a new workout routine due to added water retention to heal sore muscles, but that is the case for any new routine (not just weights), and doesn't usually last long.

    True weight gain comes from a calorie surplus, not a workout... regardless of the workout.
