P90X and Marathon training??

Has anyone done this? how did it work for you?
I just got P90X, and I want to do it over the winter. BUT I have signed up for a marathon on May 26, and would need to start the training plan I've selected on 2/11. If I were to start P90X on Monday (12/3) there'd be 3 weeks of overlap.
This would be my first round of P90X, and my 2nd marathon.
I'm currently running an average of 30-36 miles a week and doing TurboFire.
Thanks!

I've never trained for a Marathon but I did start running with a few weeks left of P90X and it was fine. I think if you're currently running that much and doing TurboFire at the same time you shouldn't have any problems finishing the last few weeks of P90X while starting a Marathon training program.0

I would say no.
I've done a marathon and p90x. The increasing training load for your marathon and the intensity of p90x in the last round are similar.
Your performance in the third phase of p90x is critical to the success of the program. You will also be completing your longest training runs then tapering off during that final round. P90 x is intense. I think you would be at risk for an injury.
Obviously you know your body better than me, but be careful. Good luck
Edit........
Oops miss read the training plan. You should be fine. Let me know if you have any question with p90x0 -
Shouldn't be a problem in the first 3 weeks of marathon training. You'll just be working at the base level you are at now. If it were the last 8 weeks of marathon training, it would be a different story.0

Jack of all trades, master of none.
Which is more important. Do you just want to finish the marathon, pace doesn't matter, or do you want to finish strong?
Hard to have good recovery days for either pursuit if the rest day is doing the other activity to any decent level.
So you won't get out of it what you could, if there was proper recovery. I'm sure you'd still get something.
Does P90X need to be done every single day?
Do your base aerobic building runs day before P90X, give a rest day before the run so you can do it well. Accept the fact the P90X will take longer, which is going to be true anyway if you try to push hard on both activities.0 -

I've never done P90X, but that was my initial take as well. The first few weeks of your marathon training will probably be similar to what you are already doing right now.0 -
I did this. I did my first round of P90X and trained for a spring marathon (mid April). What I started doing when my runs were getting longer, I would subsitute cardio days for my runs. but on days when it was chest / back/ legs, I would do both.
yoga and core stretch are key!
good luck! :happy:0 -
I did P90X through most of my training for my 2nd marathon. I didn't see any negative affects from it. You should be fine. Good luck and finish strong.0
