I don't like bread

I don't like bread, pasta, or anything "starchy" really. Do I need them? I know a lot of people talk about "whole grains," etc, I don't like any of these things. Is it something I NEED to help in my lifestyle change? Am I still eating well without them? I have little to no grains in my diet. I believe I'm getting enough fiber from the fruits and veggies I eat. Is there any other reason to have them?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

No, there is not any need for grains, especially if you don't care for them. Veggies are a great source of fiber and carbs without the extra calories.

No you don't need them in your diet, but if you cared for your tastebuds, you'd add some in cause starches are yummy
  • I don't like pasta or rice or potatoes - unless they are in chip or crisp form!

I have pretty much cut out bread and feel so much brighter and more energetic after less than 2 weeks. I just don't have that sluggish feeling I had before.

If you don't like them, don't eat them. NBD.
  • I hate bread too. My friends used to think I was constantly on a low-carb diet! (Granted, I technically was, but not for weight loss purposes at that time)
As long as you are able to retain adequate amounts of nutrients from the rest of your diet, I guess it should be fine. Good luck for the future (:

No, you don't need them. There are a lot of grain options besides the processed foods you mentioned, but if you don't like them, don't eat them.
  • Thanks all!

Looks like I'm not changing a thing for a while!
