OK...does this have ANY validity whatsoever? If so, I'm wayyy under where I should be:

Thoughts? How does it come up with that number?

It's going to depend on what stats you enter there. I entered my current weight and the same activity level I put on MFP and the results were less than 100 calories different.

If you want to double check, you can go to adjust your goals on MFP and set your goal to maintain and see how many calories MFP gives you.

If you are maintaining your current weight at a much lower calorie level, it could be that your LBM is much lower than it should be for your current weight. In this case, the Katch-McCardle formula would be more accurate for you.

Its less than what I burn every day. The most is says my TDEE will be is about 2000, but my body media fit says 2300 on a rest day.

    Try this one:

Goodness .. That's about a 100 calories more (maintenance) than other calculations I've had ..

    Here's a good one:

I am apparently way under as well! Although it's not that far off from MFP's number. To maintain my weight MFP says I should eat 1840 calories, and the Calorie Counter site says I should eat 2046...Interesting!

Thank you, Kat. That site actually coincides with what I've been doing.

    It's right for me.

I suspect it uses the same basic formula most of them do.

On a related note, you are on MFP... MFP does this for you... why are you looking at other sites/calculators? Mixing numbers/estimates/methods is a sure fire way to end up frustrated and confused.

I just used the calculator and it's still way under what I need for maintenance. I guess everyone is different. I also use Scooby's Workshop and fat2fitradio. MFP is way too low and causes me to lose weight (plus it is challenging for me to know an accurate calorie burn, so that aspect doesn't work for me either).

That is waaaaay off for me. Gives me almost 200 calories more for maintenance, I know if I eat that much I gain.

Agreed...but I see other women on here around my height and weight with the same goals and workout routines, and they're calories are 200-400 more than mine. It calculated me at 1200...I upped it to 1400 b/c I was working harder in the gym and constantly starving.

Don't forget... there is an inerrant inaccuracy in all of this. You can calculate until your fingers fall off, but they are just estimates. You can measure and record and log until you go crazy... but there is a degree of estimation to that as well. 100 cals in the face of 1500 is nothing.

Also... comparing yourself to others will drive you crazy. stop it. now.

its fairly accurate for me but i have a lot of muscle mass so its likely high for some people.

It's pretty close for me... a little low, but I have slightly lower body fat and higher lean mass than the average woman my age.

if I select the most active option, it's right, but I don't consider my activity to be THAT high.

The mens one on that site (the OP's) is waaaay too low for me
    http://www.caloriecontrol.org/healthy-weight-tool-kit/weight-maintenance-calculator-men

Its not even in the ballpark, more than 700 cal/day too low. Maintain @ 2100 before exercise? Ah no. I maintain at 2800 before exercise.

Right on the money for me.
