Is there a way to verify the caloric info found for foods on this site? Sometimes I don't have the nutritional info and there could be varying information for the same item found in the database......I would hate to think I had used more calories than I want to.

    Anything without an asterisk before it comes from the USDA and can be pretty highly trusted. Other than that, unless you can verify it yourself there's no way to be sure. Google is your friend when you're searching for nutritional labels on packaged items: its often pretty easy to find common items on google.
