Ridiculousness at work

So, I used to work for a software company that didn't value, pay, or treat the employees very well. They would hold ridiculous days like "Pretzel Day" (just like on The Office, ) and Casino Night (again, like on The Office) in order to skimp on things like pay raises and holiday bonuses, etc. Well, apparently they started passing out candy to the staff with dumb notes that say things like "it's a treat to have you here" and even dumber ones.....:noway: I can only laugh as it's so insulting and funny at the same time
What insulting and dumb things have your companies to make you feel like a "part of the team"?

At a previous job we'd periodically have "team appreciation" lunches or parties -- that we all had to pay for out of our own pockets. Oh great, I love forking over $10 to $15 for a catered meal of soggy fried chicken and watery pasta (it was always the same food)!

    On Thanksgiving eve...

at 11am, 5 minutes before my boss leaves he sends two emails.

One letting us know that the 2pm release for the rest of the company does not apply to us and NOBODY is to leave early.

Another with some stupid thanksgiving gif saying "Thanks for all you do"

And again this was 5 MINUTES BEFORE HE LEFT TO GET ON A PLANE>

Last year at Thanksgiving, instead of giving us the usual free turkey....they donated a turkey in our name to various local charities.

My husband's former company's boss was so cheap that for christmas last year, the employees all got gift certificates for the store. (It was a Gun shop and Shooting Range) so either way this *kitten* would get his money back. and then some.

If the party is booked at a hotel - like in a dining hall or something, this is not uncommon. Especially if alcohol will be served. The hotel would like to encourage people to stay rather than drink and drive.

So the hotel probably didn't know partners aren't invited and it was part of the deal.

If the party is not at a hotel, then it is strange.

Oh yeah, when I worked for a retail company, our holiday "bonus" was a 30% coupon (our regular discount was 20% off). And we could only use it once and it was only good for a few days so you had to use it or lose it. Arghhh!
