Question about Net calories, please explain this lol

Hey all, I am new here and I am not really understanding what I should do with the net calories thing. Check out my profile to see how much ive been eating, and exercising etc.

Thing is, I don't feel hungry and apparently I am eating less than my daily minimum.
Genetically I am a naturally lean guy, Ive just been going down the wrong road for a couple years and put on some weight.
I have already lost some before coming here to the site but I did this with no focus on nutrition or anything. I just stopped eating as much as I was, and stopped drinking beer.

I just don't understand the wholoe thing where if I go burn 1k calories, Am I supposed to eat that back? Sounds counter-productive lol.
