Funky pain after changing eating habits?

I overhauled my eating habits a few weeks ago and it's been working well for me, counting calories and watching what I eat. I've noticed significant changes in my energy levels, and though I'm still struggling to drop certain things (like my morning coffee and the odd line of dark chocolate as a treat) my weight has started coming off.

However, I've been having funky left hand side pain low in my abdomen for the last 5 days or so, ranging from pretty excruciating to mildly annoying. I had a drs appointment today but cancelled as it wasn't as bad this morning, then wham, tonight it started again.

It feels digestive, though I'm not having any trouble in the BM department, so I'm wondering if it has anything to do with my body adjusting to processing the different foods? I have gone from high carb starchy foods, lots of sugar (I have a serious sweet tooth), lots of dairy, to much more fresh fruit, loads of veges and have started eating nuts and seeds which I have never eaten in my life. I drink loads of water (1.5-2 litres a day) but have been doing so for months.

Has anyone else experienced the same when undertaking a radical change in diet? If it's still going on next week I'll see the dr but thought I'd throw it out there. Would also appreciate any comments on my diary. I know it's not ideal but I need the odd treat to keep me going :ohwell:

My answer is yes, sometimes I do. I really have to be careful on how much raw nuts or raw broccoli i eat... No more than 2 ounces of nuts or about a cup of broccoli for me!

I had pain like this a few months ago, saw a dr and was told it could be an infection and was put on anti-biotics, which did nothing... I have an appointment with a specialist late this month as some days I still have problems with it... try getting checked out if it persists as it has the potential to be something other than just digestion

Are you eating a lot more fibre than you used to? It could be our digestive system learning to deal with it but I'm not a doctor. If it concerns you, you should see your doctor.

Might be trapped wind or your system getting used to the massively increased fibre or indeed both. Given your diet history you probably have a gut flora that is not what it should be, you might consider taking freeze dried probiotic (friendly bacteria) capsules such as an lactobacillus/ bifidobacteria blend. Also be sure you are chewing small mouthfuls of food really thoroughly, wholefoods need a lot more work than processed rubbish.
