Big Boned

HAHAHA!
Based on the post from here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/654536-in-place-of-a-road-map-2-0-revised-7-2-12
Now I can truly say I'm big boned and not feel like I'm making an excuse for myself. So I did the military fat test on this site to find out my current body fat (http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/). Based on the information I inputted I got my total body fat percentage and then I did another calculator (http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/ibw/) to figure out my goal body weight. According to this...I'd be at a healthy weight at 149! Anything under that I'd be considered underweight. My whole life, especially in HS when I did weigh 150, I was physically skinny, but I felt fat and insecure because of the number on the scale!!! :-( I was actually in good shape at the time and I was never happy with myself. Crazy huh?
So back to my HS weight I go! :-)

It's the same for me. My healthy weight is between 135 - 179.9. In high school, I was between 170 and 180, but I thought I was supposed to be between 120 and 130 like my classmates. Now I know better.0

Well said0 -
I love this, just printed it out and hung it up.0 -
Same here. My doctor verified I have a large frame, so we put my weight goal at 154 instead of 140. I remember feeling pretty good at 165, but I had a little bit of pudge and thought I was "fat" (I was a teenager and thought I had to be model-thin). I bet if I'd lost ten pounds and toned up back then, I would have looked amazing.0

I've been told that I'm big boned.

I spent the better part of my life using that excuse about my weight (I've been overweight / obese my entire life until about a month ago). I also got away from looking at that number on my scale and now focus more on my body fat %, which is a little harder to track accurately but I find to be a much better measuring stick.
Good luck, I think you're on the right track.
And as my 13 year old niece says, big bones don't make your *kitten* jiggle! :laugh:0 -
I am "big boned" too. I dont really know what the correct term is but obviously, women come in all different frame sizes.
I am 5'4 and based on that height, most of those height weight charts say I should weigh no more than 135lbs.
I wish I can remember the name of the site but I found one that had a height/weight chart based on small, medium, and large frame. Based on whatever other calculations I had to imput, it said I was a large frame and I should weigh between 138-154lbs.
I am currently 150lbs and a thin size 6 in pants and a size small in tops.
When I started MPF at 180lbs and barely fitting into a size 10 but a size 12 was too big, I thought I wanted to go down to 135 but I think I wouldnt like right at that weight. That would make me a size 4 and I think people would ask me if i had some terminal illness if I got that small.
I known some people say the number on the scale counts but I learned that number depends on the individual. I wanna lose 5 more pounds. 145 I'll still be a size 6.
So good for you being happy with works for your body We are in the same boat.0 -

Definitely. It's taken me a while to get a handle on what's right for me. I have a few friends that are the same height but weigh around 120 lbs. It would drive me insane to think of myself at that weight! I would become so anxious. Like you, I've thought people would think I'd have an illness if I dropped down to 120. Also, according to a lot of the basic charts they say that a healthy weight for me is between 120 & 160.
So, I'm glad for sites like this and information from supportive people on MFP I discovered that measuring body fat % and inches can be a little more accurate at assessing where I should be than just counting calories and pounds. :-)0 -
Never been big boned. Giggidy.0

Love this!!! Than you!0 -
I am only 4 foot 8, and according to everything I look at, my weight should be around 100 pounds. There is NO way I can weigh 100 pounds. I am big boned and just not built to be that small.0
