Hi everybody, I'm new to MFP, i joined about 10 days ago, and have lost around 3lbs, but since being on a diet for around 8 weeks i have lost 17lbs. I dont do as much exercise as i would like due to a skiing accident just before xmas, which has left me with a torn tendon in my knee, so i am currently on crutches and unable to move around at the moment as much as i have done previously. To help speed up my weight loss i am going swimming up to 3 times a week, as it's not too harsh on my knee.

Does anyone know of any other types of exercise that wont be too harsh on my leg. All suggestions welcome, as i don't really want swimming to be the only thing i can do.

Add me as well please people, i need other people to keep me motivated to carry on.

    Hello and welcome!

Sorry about knee injury, ouch! Swimming is a great idea! I think you should stick with that until your orthopedic surgeon advises otherwise.

you should do upper body strength and push ups situps. This is fire up your metabolism and keep calories burning past your workout.

    how about yoga?

I dont know how bad your knee is, but when i was recovering from knee surgery the first exercise i was able to do was the bike. nice and easy, not too much. Again, i think it probably depends on your knee, and you could ask your doctor what would be right for you!

amylynna1 - I would like to try yoga, but my biggest problem with my knee at the moment is that i'm struggling to bend it, maybe i will check it out though and see if it's worth trying, and i will definatly add some upper body workouts into my routine.

flutterby00 - I'm not exactly sure how bad it is at the moment either, at the moment i don't know if i will need surgery. I have a scan in a few weeks, so i will ask the doctor then what he can suggest, but i definatly do want to get back on the bike again.

Thanks for the advice guys, v much appreiciated!!!
