Had perfect diet but now I'm lifting

So I've been working on losing weight since last March. I'm 5'6" and was roughly 225 lbs when I started. Now, I'm 183 and I just started lifting with a friend. My diet has been very low calorie and low carbs with plenty of Protein and Fiber to keep me filled up but now that I'm lifting I'm just not getting enough calories to help my muscles keep going. What are good, inexpensive because I'm a broke college kid, higher calorie foods that aren't so high that I gain weight again. I understand that lifting causes you to gain mass but I'm looking to lose weight overall.

Thanks for your help!

A scoop of peanutbutter after a workout with some whole oats is a great post workout snack. Chicken, Oats, whole grain pasta, ground beef, and peanutbutter are all pretty hearty foods that keep me full and provide good energy for some long gym sessions. And great job on your weightloss journey so far!
