Hi good luck in your path. I was wondering though if you have ever gave this way a try. My whole family went on atkins when it was first out and lost a considerable amount of weight but every one of us has gained it back plus some because we couldn't stick to it for that long. After I found this site I realized I don't have to deprive myself of any foods anymore and I can still do it. There are so many more low carb options now though so if I tried it now I may actually have stuck to it. Either way you are in this fight like the rest of us and I wish you luck. -Heather- ps I still have this carbs are bad thing ingrained into my brain so I always seem to be kind of low on my carbs anyway0

Everyone I know that has done the Atkins diet has reacted the same way as hmmmmm has said. I had even bought into it a couple years ago and just seems to me that it is very unhealthy, so much fat in it, can't be good for arteries. This is so far in my life the best way to eat even though it seems to be a slow progress, it is by far the best way for me to loose weight and learn good eating habits.0

The Atkins diet puts the body into a stage called "ketosis." This is very hard on the whole body, but is especially hard on the brain. The brain runs *only* on glucose (which comes easiest from carbs.) It may work for some people, but is this something you could keep up for a lifetime? If not, I would advise you against atkins and advise you to choose a more healthy way to lose weight that you can keep up long term.0

Be careful of Atkins. I lost about 20 pounds 6 years ago and it all came back because it was an unrealistic lifestyle for me. I was also very sick on it. I only did it for 5-6 months and missed several days of work I was so sick.0

Atkins atkins atkins..........
you need to learn to eat right and exercise if you plan on long term sucess, otherwise you will find yourself in a constant battle with your weight in life. Atkins "works", but all diets do, until you start to eat again. You need to eat a balanced, healthy, portion controlled menu and exercise if you plan on long term sucess.
Good luck in what ever you decide to do. :drinker:0 -

For me, I am eating way to much. I am so full all the time. It's like I am looking for things to eat when I am not hungry just to fulfill my calorie/carb intake.
If I don't do this for 14 days, I will never achieve my goal.
I'm still logging and all and watching, But for 14 days? I have to shock my system.0
