I just finished making kale chips in the oven with only damp kale and nutritional yeast. Nice crispy healthy snack! It's good for protein and B vitamins and you can use it as a cheese substitute in a lot of dishes. I keep mine in the freezer since I live in the tropics and don't use it very often.

I love nooch! It's got a nutty, cheesey flavour that is well suited for sprinkling on popcorn or pasta or making a vegan "cheese" sauce with. Veganyumyum has a cheese sauce recipe that I like to make; she mixes it with chard or kale, spreads it on slices of crusty bread, sprinkles wih smoked paprika and pops it under he broiler until bubbly. I've made it a few times and it's awesome!

    P. S. Nooch often has B vitamins in it. So don't be surprised iff it turns your pee fluorescent yelliw ;)

Have seen it in a few recipes, but have never seen it in the shops. Where does one buy it?

It is amazing on popcorn instead of salt and butter. Our local movie theatre uses it and they hooked me.

Why have I never thought about putting it on popcorn?

So much knowledge on the forums this evening!
  • It looks like I’m eating popcorn and making kale chips tomorrow!

Nutritional yeast is also low in fat and has no added sugar or preservatives. I like to use it on salads in place of cheese and add it to mashed potatoes or mashed cauliflower for a cheesy flavor. I also substitute it for bread crumbs for bean and veggie burgers. To cut down on carbs, I do a 50/50 mix of bread crumbs and nutritional yeast for breading for tofu parmesan.

Buffdrinklots-Within the last year, nutritional yeast has become widely available at most grocery stores in my area. I used to order it online. It doesn’t have to be refrigerated, so there shouldn’t be any concern about its temperature during shipping.

    Thanks.

Either I'm looking on the wrong shelf or it hasn't made it to Scotland yet. I'll have a look online.
