Swimming and running on the same day

I am working out my exercise timetable for next week (scheduling it means it is more likely to get done!).

I will be on the second week of a C25k programme. Obviously this isn't enormously strenuous as I am just starting out, but it is something new. This week I ran Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday but next week I would rather run Monday, Wednesday and Friday. However on Monday I also have a swimming lesson (improver level so we do lengths, lifesaving skills etc).

Will running at 6am and swimming at 7pm on the same day be OK? I know triathletes manage just fine, but trust me I'm no triathlete  But with the big gap in between and no other exercise (apart from the couple of miles walk to work and back) I should be OK, shouldn't I?

Sorry if this is a silly question, but I am very new to running.

    I'd say it's fine.

I regularly work out twice on one day: be it a swim in the morning, with a run in the evening or anything else really. Just go with your body: if you're feeling tired, take an extra rest day after the run, if you feel fine then carry on as normal.

Honestly, as long as you make sure to stick a bit more fuel in the tank, I can't see any problems at all. Loads of people do more than one workout in a day. :)

I like to swim right after a run. When "doing doubles" (two sepperate strenuous workouts in one day), expect to have a little less energy on your second workout and plan accordingly... drink a coffee before and have an extra little carb snack. You'll be fine, but don't expect to have your best performance.
