I am. I love pulled pork, and pulled beef, and BBQ chicken and fall-off-the-bone ribs....

why do you ask? just a BBQ role call?

I Grill or BBQ at least 3 times a week. Rain, Snow or Sunshine. Make my own rubs and BBQ Sauces. Charcoal only.
  • Nothing like throwing a hog over a bed of coals and cooking it all night. Pulled pork, slow cooked for 10-12 hours is incredible. The best part is the tongue. WE used to fight over it. Mmmmmmmm.....

We smoke Pork, Beef, Chicken and Turkey's. Some for us, most for others or for charity functions. Nothing like a piece of smoky goodness!

I am, as long as we're clear that grilling burgers and hot dogs is NOT barbecue (another Texan here).

One of my pet peeves is when people confuse grilling with BBQ. You are correct. It is *NOT* the same!

That is a Certified BBQ Professional Chef.

I used to smoke any kind of meats/veggie twice a week (woods only). Right now I couldn't do that cuz I lives at a condo. :(

    BBQ is NOT a verb!

I'm from NC and we love our BBQ. I love the eastern style with the vinegar base.

I was never a huge fan until I recently started making my own bbq sauce. Oh buddy, yes.
  • Good stuff everyone. I agree with you all. Nothing like bbq'd brisket, burnt ends, pig candy, pulled pork, spares, smoked mac n cheese!

I have a question...too sauce or not? If it is smoked to perfection do you still add sauce to just leave the meat to speak for itself?

I was 20 before I realized some parts of the country refer to "grilling out" as Barbequeing. I showed up for a Bar BQ to only find hotdogs and hamburgers. I was looking for a whole hog over a pit that some one had stayed up with all night slowly barbequeing.

EDIT: I cannot do the quote thing. The quote was supposed to be about not confusing BBQ with grilling

I love BBQ as well! I grew up in Texas, so I always assumed that BBQ = beef. I quickly learned that east of Texas, BBQ = pork. That said, I do love me some pulled pork!

No sauce. However I always serve it on the side. I like to give my guests the option of saucing.

Only if you're talking about REAL bbq..... not "grilling".

We have a komodo smoker and bbq every weekend.

Also, I live in North Carolina, and we know bbq.
  • U rang?

I will barbecue a mouse if it looks at me funny.

In NC, BBQ only means smoked pork - either whole hog, or pork butt --- typically chopped. Nothing else really counts as bbq.

Example - if you go into a restaurant and order the bbq plate or bbq tray, you're getting chopped smoked pork.

    Vinegar based, mmmmhmmm! yeah buddy!
