fraud?

Maybe I'm werid, but does anyone else feel like a fraud when wearing makeup, extentions, and whatever else? I love the makeup and all and I do believe if I like it I should wear it regardless of the opinions of others BUT perhaps one day you caught someone's eye, they're attracted to you, or maybe it's someone else, whatever the case your look caught their attention, but what they fell for was the initial appearance, sooner or later they will see what you really look like clean face and all and if you wear full makeup (foundation especially full coverage, eyeliner, the whole nine yards) most likely you look TOTALLY DIFFERENT, perhaps you're still pretty without it BUT I've seen people who with makeup, ect are flawless, but really don't look that great without it and have plenty of imperfections that didn't exist before

Do you ever feel like a fraud being made up?

i wear makeup basically everyday, and no, i don't ever feel "fake". i think i look fine without makeup, but it really gives me that extra confidence boost, which i need lol. i don't wear that much, but i think can makeup can really highlight someone's natural features. now if someone cakes on makeup to make it really obvious and uses extensions, fake nails, fake tanner, i think that's over the top. but i'm not them, and if makes them feel more confident, power to them!

    perhaps I'm over thinking it
some reason I think people would be put off by the fact I don't really look as good as they thought I did and that's sort of embarrsing

Personally I like never wear make up, but that's because I'm lazy.

Being girly doesn't seem fake to me, it does seem like a whole lotta work. I have a lot of respect for people who can manage to do that everyday.

Me too. I don't think it is fraud. I think buying anime toys from Japan online using my credit card and then making a really awkward situation for me because my ENT copay gets denied because my cc is maxed out is fraud, but not makeup.

I just wanted to reply because I like seeing other people who don't wear makeup due to laziness. Makes me feel good.

I think if you over apply or get made up too much then yes. Make up, hair, nails etc. are meant to enhance what you already have. I love getting dolled up, it's fun being a woman IMO. OP we are always hardest on ourselves, you look beautiful and you don't look all made up to me.

how much makeup are you wearing that you look that different when you put it on vs when you aren't wearing it?

but to answer the question, no i dont feel like a fraud. i clean up very nicely and i'm just a comfortable in a dress displaying the girls and heels with hair and makeup on point as i am sweaty and looking like i just got beat up after the gym.

I guess the thing is that at some point if you're going to be with that person for a long time they're eventually going to see you au naturel. Maybe it is fraud but them again most girls do it (enhancing their natural beauty in some way) so it's kind of just leveling the playing field

I know what op is talking about actually, just watch some make up tutorials online and it's like omg, that's the same person? For example, Jenna marbles, on YouTube. She's gorgeous with or without make up, but she looks like two different people. It's so bizarre seeing her in videos without make up on.

thanks and I'm not wearing any makeup
the online videos are exactly what I'm refering too

I tried it before but they're costly but my big issue is though I love it (how it makes me look, the fablous colors, EVERYTHING just love , I just love it) I'm totally lost and don't know what I'm doing, which brands to buy, which color looks better on me and I have oily skin (oilest in the summer and combo? in the winter maybe) and I don't know how to make it stay and look good all day

I don't have perfect skin as you can see from my profile I have acne scaring and I think it just ruined my face, I think lookng at me in person is worse than the profile pic and I don't want people thinking I look some way I don't

*sigh* I'm having trouble sorting out what I really want to say but the reference to the other girls I mentioned sums up how I feel in a way

Omg! I know! I'd rather buy video games and art supplies anydayyyyyy! I still buy lipgloss, it's an addiction, but only when I have the extra money and there isn't anything else I want or need.

I never wear make up, also due to laziness. I get manicures, but they're my real nails.. and only in an effort not to chew my hands into bloody stumps.

I've never really understood the fake eyelashes/hair extensions stuff, but I have some good friends who pull it off nicely. It's not fraud.. it's just different girls with different tastes.

I don't know if it's fraud or not, but some people do look drastically different without make-up I guess lol! I personally haven't worn makeup in 11 years, and my skin looks 1000x's better than it did when I used to wear it (I used to refuse to even go out to the mailbox without make-up on lol). Now, it's pretty much what you see is what you get and I don't even miss it. To each their own!

I used to wear it when I waited tables because better looking = better tips, unfortunately.

Personally I like MAC, benefit, and smashbox products and I have combo skin, but omg pain in the *kitten*. By the end I was just slapping on lip gloss and mascara. I like loose powders better than liquids or pressed too, and if I bother with eyeshadow I normally just stick with a solid neutral shade. And i learned to use the pots for liner that mac put out, but I haven't bought any in years, I'm not sure they still make them. i never got the hang of lining with a pencil, but I can do it with a brush, go figure. Doing it like that keeps your skin from getting overwhelmed I think. And makes them last a really long time.

But they are so expensive. Damn.

Op, I don't think any one has perfect skin. Don't worry so much.

I only wear eyeliner and mascara so I usually just keep it real. Never have fake hair or nails or anything like that. What you see is what you get. I've had a bf of 3.5 years and he loves me for me.

I've never had to worry about this, since any makeup I wear is very light and natural looking - if I wear it at all. My husband can recognize me both with and without makeup, since the two looks are almost identical. I also don't color my hair, and I love my cool silver streaks sneaking in at the temples. I'm pretty satisfied with myself the way I am, and I don't feel the need to impress other people, so there's nothing really fake about me. I always figured I should just be my simple little self, and if people don't like it, they don't need to be in my life anyway...

As for women who DO wear makeup and extensions and all sorts of other embellishments - I don't think that's a fraud. It's a personal choice. It's pretty obvious when a woman is wearing makeup that she wasn't born with it on - no one is being duped or misled. It's just another way to show your style.

My style happens to be simple and natural, but it's no more authentic than someone else who likes to use enhancements. It's not threatening to me at all so I say it's all good. :flowerforyou:

No, I love being all dolled up but I personally don't think I look half bad without makeup on. Actually every boyfriend I've ever had says they think I'm beautiful with or without my makeup and hair done.
