to much protein and not enough calories

I've been using mfp for almost a week now. I'm 227 lbs and I'm 29. I thought I'd be starving on this new eating plan but I'm having trouble getting calories in because I'm making healthier choices. I'm usually about 200-500 under the calorie limit that they gave me. I am usually about 20 over on my protein though. Ideas to remedy this? Thanks!

1. Well done on getting more protein (the number they set on this site is waaay too low for most people)
2. eat a cookie (you're welcome) :happy:0 -
Change your macros. The default protein MFP sets you on is really low, 15%. Change your settings, Id suggest to around 40/30/30, but you can adjust it however you like.0

Where do I go to change that? Still trying to get the hang of this. Thanks0

Agree protein is low. I am always over anywhere from 15 to 35. Don't worry about it. It will help you maintain muscle while you lose fat.0

There is another post just like this one going around, seems a very common occurrence. I agree, change your goals to 40/30/30.0

Thanks. I thought higher protein was a good thing but I didn't want to mess up my progress.0

Too much protein doesn't exist.
1. Eat lots of protein
2. Lift heavy
3. Get a decent night's sleep

It has been proven that the more protein you eat, the more protein synthesis occurs in your muscles. In a study published in The Journal of Physiology in 2003, researchers found that subjects who had been given an infusion of amino acids experienced a boost in muscle protein synthesis. The amazing thing was that the rate at which subjects built muscle protein increased as the amount of protein in their bloodstreams increased. Therefore, the more protein you eat, to a degree, the more muscle you'll build all day long, with or without exercise.0
