Gym burnout. does anyone else have it?

I have been working on losing weight for over 2 years. I have lost around seventy pounds, 49 of which was lost before I found MFP. About two months ago I finaly got burned out from going to the Y on average 5x a week. I decided to try working out at home doing bodyweight exercises and taking walks.I was doing good for a while but then daylight savings time hit and it now gets dark at 5:15 or 5:30 so during the week I cannot take walks ( do not like walking after dark). I have been sacking off of the bodyweight routine because of being busy with the holidays ect. I plan to get right back on it on Monday. On January 1 I plan to start Jillian Michaels 30 day shred.I might even get the Ripped in 30 or buy a game like Zumba for my xbox.Eventually I want to get a treadmill and/or an exercise bike.

It became harder for me to keep up with my Y schedule when we started helping babysit our grandaughter since both our son and his wife work and they occasionally need us to watch her. My husband is disabled and my younger daughter is low functioning autistic. I am needed at home more now and my family likes me being here.

I am really hoping that the totally new workouts will get me out of the plateau that I have been in for months now. Santa is also bringing me a FitBit and a Biggest Loser food scale!

You may need to supplement with D3, winter time many people do not get enough sun light and it effects their mood.

You need to keep going to the gym, it is better then home exercising but you sound like you need a break. Take 7-10 days off. Eat at maintenance or even slightly above. Enjoy the time, then get back at it. A mental and/or physical break is often necessary. Bodybuilders are known to take breaks every few months. A week off can make a huge difference.

This kind of burn out is usually because of over training/improper rest. But it's been 2 months for you so I dunno. It's definitely a good idea to change up what you do for exercise to avoid mental problems

I guess that is why I am hesitant to just up and cancel my membership.I probobly will next month though. You see in addition to overseeing my own weight loss program I also have two special needs teenagers that I am supposed to encourage to lose weight. Daughter number one is eighteen now but she has Aspergers (high functioning autism). She is just comming off of migraine meds which were making her tired all the time. Of course for someone with autism just trying to function is exhausting.I am trying to come up with something that she can do at home maybe with me and her sister. Little sister is lower functioning and has developed a weight problem because of various issues that she has.(Not getting into all the gory details) I am planning to buy her a punching bag and have her start punching and kicking it since she hates going outside. I will get some kickboxing DVDs too and see if we can learn that.

So now I am just needed at home too much to keep up with going to the Y.And it is not going to end anytime soon. I tried to start workng out at home last year but our son and his wife were actually staying with us temporarily and there were just too many distractions. This year it has been better since they have moved into their own place and even when the baby is here I can just have my daughter (older one) play with her for 45 minutes or so while I do my routine.
