Getting from big to small....

I'm not a newbie, but I'm at that point where I need some new/more motivation.
Don't get me wrong I enjoy all the encouragement of my current friends on my FL, but at times either I don't relate to them or vise versa.
When I started MFP, I had packed on a ton of weight from bipolar meds. I went from being a 245 lb high school athlete to a 328 lb Sophomore in college. I didn't start my battle down until I figured out that all the weight wasn't from over eating or lack of exercise, but a side effect that the doctor told me couldn't be avoided.
I've battled down roughly 63 lbs on my own, but still have at least 65 more to get to my ideal goal. At times my friends who are only trying to lose 10-20 lbs and suggest fasting to me, I don't feel relate. I need more friends who have high goals set that are determined to achieve them and push me to reach my goal, rather than be complacent and settle for sticking around 260.
Feel free to add me :-)

I can relate to that :-)
I don't understand fasting. I really don't get why would people want to starve themselves for one day. It's not very kind to our bodies.
I started on another, paid, website. I was 211lbs and now I'm 171lbs. I would like to lose about 30 lbs more. I'm 5'3.
I only now discovered gym and boy I love it!
Mind you it's only been a couple of weeks :-)
I think you are in the right place. MFP is great :-)
I love the 'news feed' - it's very motivational to see updates of other peoples actions. Especially if they are excersising and burning calories. It makes me to get out and the same :-)
Good luck on your journey :-)0 -

Fasting is great here and there especially if you're battling food addiction. If you don't relate to your friends, delete them. Why be friends with people who lead you to write this post? Good luck Stephen.0

Hello all,
I'm brand new and ready to do this! I got on the scale this morning and scared myself. I guess I thought all of my clothes were shrinking at the same time
I quit smoking today too so I'm going to need all the help I can get with this "get healthy" project of mine! I've been lurking around this site for a while and I think it's fantastic how everyone encourages everyone else. I hope to make many new friends and find my waist line again!0 -
I can relate. My doctor put me on bipolar meds too that caused me to gain weight. I have a large amount of weight to lose too.0

Stephen I fast everyday, but I eat everyday also. Fasting is what broke my plateau. I fast for 16 hours and get my calories in in 8. There are benifits to it and I don't feel like I'm starving. I stop eating at around 7 pm and don't start again till after 11 am the next day, sometimes longer depending on what I have going on in my life. I tried everything I could do to break my plateau and nothing worked, then I started fasting again and bam I lost 8 lbs in a weeks time, breaking my plateau and making me a happy girl. So you can still eat everyday, you just go longer periods of time without food. You can even do a 24 hour fast (once or twice a week) but still eat everyday, for the maximum benifits. There is a book called Eat, Stop, Eat. Its an interesting read.0
