Hi
this week ive not gone over calories.
But ive ate more white bread than normal and also had 2 bacon butties this week.
And now ive Gained 6whole pounds.
My question is could this be due to all the extra carbs and then the salty bacon.
Are low carb diets better.

Higher than normal carbs or sodium can cause water retention. It's temporary. Eating more carbs will not impact your weight loss unless you have a medical condition (diabetes, hypothyroidism, PCOS, etc.) that causes increased insulin resistance.0

if you aren't drinking enough.
Increasing potassium will help offset increases in sodium.
water weight fluctuations mask fat loss not inhibit it. Stick to your cal/macro goals consistently and don't worry about scale weight fluctuations.0 -
It's also glycogen weight, which will depend on how much muscle mass you have.
Glycogen requires water to be stored - Although there's no exact number, the number typically quoted is every gram of stored glycogen is 3-4g of water. As such, this weight gain may be attributed to glycogen and water and not necessarily fat or muscle gain.
Within a few days of low-carb dieting (if that's what you do) you'll be pee'ing like a horse and returning to normal.
Best of luck!0 -
