Free weight advice

Hi...I just joined a really tiny local gym. My motivation was mainly to start doing some weight work since I've always relied on cardio workouts, which I know is not *the best*. I would like to balance that a bit more and start using free weights, but I'm really unsure where to begin. Are there any resources you can point me to that give some beginning exercises? Obviously, I will need to start slowly, but any advice will be appreciated. thanks!

Bodybuilding.com has a Find a Plan that gives workout routines. I did Jamie Eason's and lost about 10 lbs over the 12 week plan.0

look into Rachel Cosgrove's book "female body breakthrough".
it shows you how to do the exercises properly, gives you programs you can follow and advice on nutrition as well.. I purchased it for my wife and she loves it.0
