I have it on my amazon wishlist, but is it worth it ?
First Impression upon un-boxing ?
What do you like about it ?
Hate about it ?
Something you wish you would change ?
On a scale of 1-5 how many stars would you rate it ?

I don't have a 40 but I do have a 4. So just based on a Polar product, I've been really happy with it. It's comfortable to wear and gives me the information that I need. I've only had to replace the batteries in both the watch and chest strap once each and I've had it for about two years. The 40 looks a lot more mac-daddy than I need!0

I've only had my FT60 for maybe 5 days. I used to have an FT7. I wanted the FT60 for the fitness test. I loved my FT7 and so far love the FT60. Some differences I've noticed: The sensor itself has a shorter profile (not as thick) so it doesn't rub on my long runs on my girls. Now, the FT7 could have the new style sensor now too - not sure on that. I bought my FT7 in maybe February of this year? So it's not even a year old yet. The fitness test is nice. The results weren't what I hoped for, but it's probably fairly accurate LOL. The watch seems much heavier duty but is smaller since I bought the women's version. That's nice. There are certainly more options than the FT7, but I haven't set up a training program or anything yet.
I would give this 5 stars. I love HRMs. I use it to gauge my workouts and slow down/speed up as needed.0

I have had dozens of polar and other hrm's over the years including the ft40. Polar is definitely the best IMO and as far as which one you get it really comes down to preference and functionality you want and need. The higher end models have lots of different functions and data measures, but really most don't need more than the basics. I would just make sure to get one that offers the fit test feature as that allows a more accurate measure of what you will truly be burning whole working out. I also like the feature of breaking down how much time and when during your workout you are in fat burn versus cardio mode. Outside of that I have not had a need for the other features. The ability to load your results online via the sync is nice too if you plan to monitor it more deeply. I would highly recommend anyone doing fitness to use a HRM, whether its polar or another brand. I really do feel it helps improve your fitness and motivating efforts too. Feel free to email me if you have any specific questions or concerns as I would be more than happy to help. Good luck!0

            I went from a FT6 {retired model } to a FT60. I have been using it for over 2 years now. I love it, would not exercise w/o it.0

            Oops, I have the FT60 not FT40. I'll correct my post.0

if you have a smartphone, just buy the polar h7 bluetooth transmitter. Some good apps out there that offer more then the watches.0

I plan to get the H7 to use with my FT60. I like being able to just glance at my wrist to be able to see my HR. It's much more awkward to glance at my phone during my runs (which I do for my GPS app).0
