I was using MFP religiously for 2 months and lost 12 pounds. I was doing great unti we had people staying with us for 2 weeks and of course it consisted of going out, drinking, etc. I ended up back where I started.
As of last week, I am engaged (YEAH!!) but I still cannot find motivation to get back on track. Anyone have any words of wisdom for me?

Make it a habit! Take an account of what you are doing that you know is not the best way to get to your goal. Pick one, and work on only that one for a few days until you feel that you are taking control of it, then move to the next one. For example, high calorie snacks after dinner, fast food several times during the week, not enough water, etc. You can do it! Good luck.0

First off, congrats on your recent engagement!
Now, go out and buy a wedding dress that is 8 sizes too small. That's all the motivation you need. :happy:0 -
Surround yourself with healthy, motivating people.
Congrats :drinker:0 -

This is the only way I've had success with weight loss. Breaking old habits and creating new ones. It's hard at first, but gets easier as the habits become.....habit.
Also, congrats on your engagement!!0 -
Can't find motivation... Well, just stop using it as an excuse and get on here and log. And do things like you were doing before. Find some motivating friends, and you will do fine. No excuses!0

Congrats on your engagement!! :drinker:
Personally I think once we all get through the holidays, all our motivation will pick up as we feel spring approaching. This time of year is always when I tend to fall in a slump! It's so easy to cover it up with the thick, baggy clothing for winter but when you gotta shed those layers for spring....ut oh!! Works every time for me!!0 -
I got frustrated after a plateau and dropped off MFP for a few months last summer. After gaining 8 lbs, I got back on the wagon. Since then, I have lost 18 lbs and finally fitting into smaller sizes and seeing less of a gut in the mirror. You can too!0

Congratulations on your engagement! I know from experience life is a lot easier and more fun if you're not carrying around an extra 50 lbs. At my heaviest, that's what I was carrying. You're too young to be letting yourself go that way. (Everyone, still alive, is too young to let their bodies go.) If you decide to have children, the problem could get worse. Engage is plenty of fun, physical activities, and count calories until you can trust yourself to eat/drink in moderation. May you live happily ever after!0

You're a harda**! That's what I want to be. :laugh:0 -
Congrats on your engagement!!!!!
We all lose focus at times but realization is key -when you do you get back up brush yourself off and continue on don't beat yourself up -you were out you enjoyed it and you had fun (it's alright) you know what you've done -acknowledgment it's done with...
It's a new day - time to get back on track lets get started ...
One step at a time
Make small changes
Eat Clean
Increase your water intake
Try to prepare all of your meals - no restaurants for now unless if it's absolutely necessary then make a healthy choice
Incorporate Green tea - many of flavors now available- into your daily regimen
Get moving - increase your activities - anything just do it - walking cooking cleaning ...
Find balance - don't deprive yourself of the things you enjoy instead have it in moderation
When you slip up just strive for better thereafter
Be positive and stay focused
..... ........ ............
We are here to support you We are all on a journey We can do this.!0 -
Don't forget to log your food intake and your exercises!!!0

Congrats! The first big day is when you pick your wedding dress. Put a countdown on the fridge to show you how much time you have left. Sometimes it helps to SEE that day creeping up on you. Then make another one for the final fitting, then the wedding day. You definitely don't want to be one month away and have to go into panic mode!0

My best advice to you is think of your wedding photos... I made little effort to lose weight before my wedding, I wasn't hugely overweight but certainly not in the best shape at all and now 18 months AFTER my wedding I am the smallest I have ever been. I look back at my photos and regret that I didn't start this journey sooner. I have my wedding dress hanging in the wardrobe and I am tempted to try it on to see the difference
Planning the wedding is a stressful time anyway so the earlier you can get into a good exercise and eating routine the better, once this becomes second nature you will be able to take on the task of wedding planning without worrying so much about your weight loss journey.
Congratulations and I wish you the best of luck!0 -
next time you go to drink count it in your calories or take it off from ur next day, if u r wonder 1 gram of alcohol = 7 calories
and u can search your fav. drinks calories and still enjoy them they they fit in
