Jewelry - been married a long time and its never been wrong. Oh, that and handbags. Chicks dig handbags . . .
I feel like I must turn in my chick card. I wouldn't want either jewelry or handbags. Or flowers. Or perfume.

Build her a cake, or draw her a picture with a note that says 'there's a lot more where this came from ...'

You could try asking her...I'm sure she'll be happy to tell you. If not, you could try asking her family members or female friends what she would like. I always make sure my husband knows what I want by saying, "Look at this honey, I really like this, it's so awesome. Hey, isn't it Christmas soon? I wonder what you're giving me for Christmas..." By this point we are usually both laughing and he gets the "hint". After 17 years of marriage, I'm fairly fluent in "man-speak" and he understands "woman-speak" pretty well.

I changed my mind. Build her a cake. Preferably with wood and glue.

homemade dessert or a nice meal, flowers, jewelry, chocolates, a day at the spa, nice smelling stuff, her favorite band's new cd, fitness stuff.

For the past 3 years, I have gotten nothing for any holiday from my boyfriend, so those are just some things that I'd love to get and I'm sure she'd love any one of those things too.

    Just give her the d.

You never give her ALL the d until birthdays and holidays.

We all know this, right? This isn't just me?

You do not build cakes with wood and glue! You build cakes and leave them on your girl's doorstep!

Lots and LOTS of strippers. Like, way too many. Except, how can you have too many? Exactly my point.

Also, a robot. Not a vacuum cleaner one. A C3PO robot. No one in her right mind would turn that down.

Minions and a secret lair. Complete with doomsday device.

    Vaginal rejuvenation.

I could go on and on.

The last time I left a girl a present on her doorstep was in grade 5. I got arrested for it. =\

I definitely agree that you moving there is the best gift she could have gotten, however, I understand you want to get her something anyways.

Think back throughout the year. Has she mentioned anything that she wants, something she'd like to do (a particular concert, show, etc)? Honestly, anything that shows you've been paying attention to her interests will score major points and likely never be forgotten.

I want a robot, but prefer R2D2. I don't have need for a protocol droid that is fluent in over six million forms of communication.

Some activity she can cross off her bucket list. Like skydiving or riding in a hot air balloon or a sled dog ride or visiting california or surfing or white water rafting orr..... you get my drift.

Simple tiffany's bracelet she can wear everyday (my mom gave me a box chain bracelet from there when I was 17. I'm 22 now. Been wearing it every single day, never take it off, still in perfect condition)

Kitchen appliance she's been wanting (not than women should be confined to the kitchen but....) maybe a good coffeemaker, blender, crock pot...?

New bed set (comforter, sheets, pillow cases)

Gift cards to Sephora, Victoria's secret, or wherever she likes.

Buy gift cards for various date nights you plan out. Google it.

I'll come back if I think of more.

Love this!! It's very cool that your Mom gave you something that means so much to you that you never take it off. What an awesome bond you must have with your Mom :flowerforyou:

christmas eve while she is sleeping, go around and put heart shape sticky notes all over with all the things you can think of
that you love about her, that remind you of her, things that you think are cute, sexy, adorable, quirky about her, all your fondest memories, little things she does that you find so attractive, does she bite her lip during the scary part of a movie, does she get a deep belly giggle then snort when you tell a joke, does the way she sits there twirling her hair while sipping her coffee, just drive you wild and make you wanna just nibble on her neck, well then TELL HER! Place a flower , rose, or her fave by each note, and leave a trail till she finds you, and whatever other gift you pick be it the diamond ring, or anything else, a puppy might be good if you dont already have one, who doesnt just love a cute puppy. if she is into mfp or workingout, give her something related to that, a pre paid year gym membership at ymca or planet fitness or someplace local, maybe a massage, pedicure, manicure package gift certificate to a elegant day spa, whats your budget!? LOL fly her to paris and put a hot tub on the balcony of the eiffle tower? have champagne and then pop the big question lol...whatttttt!???

well you've had a full spectrum of responses.....and i can't compete with the funny ones....so....

and yes Brett, you are right...

whatever you do...give her something from your heart. She likes you, she loves you, and if she likes the person you are, she should love the gift you give...

but sometimes it's not the gift you give but how you give it....

with a silly little treasure hunt? or just the two of you alone in a blanket fort? talking and whispering? or with a long rambling letter that explains how you came to the decision of purchasing this EXACT thing for her?

that's one of the best parts. (at least for me...but then for me, gifts are best when full of suspense, great lead up, and then an explosive delivery followed by an awesome climax.......).........
