all day ive seen people on the forums talking about how they want friends for motivation so i had to say something. YOU HAVE TO MOTIVATE YOURSELF. no one can make you do this you have to want to yourself. add friends for support/ advice if you want and alot of people (including myself) are happy to support you and help you in whatever way we can however little it is but we cant make you do this. thats up to you

    Agreed.

No one can do this for you. Even if you have support and encouragement, 99.9% is on you.

exactly i see all these people posting that and i just feel like theyre setting themselves up to fail by having the mindset that we can make them do this
  • I don't think it is that. I think many of us on here know we can only do the weight loss ourselves. Nobody else can do it for us. However, having friends that help keep us on track, are there to listen to us when we are fighting temptations, or just to do the odd thing with, is what those people are looking for. I think they are also looking for tips on how to stay motivated or become motivated. I have scoured through this website looking for motivation myself. Not because I want someone else to make me lose weight, but to see what is out there that will help keep me motivated. Sometimes, the journey is a very long one and it is hard to get started.

That's what I think those people are looking for. They aren't looking for someone to lose the weight for them, but for someone who can help them when they need that boost over an obstacle or the road is looking dark.

The friends that motivate me most on here are the ones who are really dedicated and achieving their goals. I challenged myself today to match one of my awesome friends' calorie burn, and I did it :) Over 1000 cals burned which is so not normal for me. I try to offer encouragement to those friends who are struggling at the moment too. It's a two way street, no-one wants someone who is moaning all the time about not losing weight, you have to get out there and just do it but on occasions like last week when I was ill and couldn't exercise, I needed that encouragement too.
