I truly believe this is the best way to get your butt off the couch and start a running routine. I started this in June and on Thanks giving day I ran my first 5k in 38:19. Under my 40 min goal. Know i'm working on improving my times and pushing new limits i never thought was possible.

I did C25K about four years ago and 30 lbs ago. I am training for my first half marathon now. Worked for me.

Oooh, Tough Mudder looks like so much fun. I have done a couple of Warrior Dash races and they are a blast. Have fun!

Sweet! I think I'll start it in the spring when the snow starts to melt. I certainly have heard enough positive reports :). I have always thought that I could "never be a runner" -- maybe it's time to shatter that negative self thought!

Congratulations and I agree! I will confess that I gave up the first time I tried it, but I picked it up again (this time with the iPhone app) and I ran a 5K last month! I've walked them before, but this was my first time ever to run one. I never even liked running, and now I love it! I also talked my husband into using the app. He'd never run at all, but after doing the app he ran the 5K with me last month. Congratulations again on your accomplishment and happy running! :flowerforyou:

You need to bash the " I can never be a runner mentality" I have had asthma since I was 9. This year my insurance dropped my coverage of my meds and it was going to be 300 a month. Since i'm not rich i changed my diet and started exercising. I haven't taken my every day inhaler since Jan 2012. Its almost been a year! And i can run a 5k every day now with out the emergency inhaler. If I can do it so can YOU! I never played sports in school and I know run faster then I did in 6th grade gym.

I did C25K in the spring- did wonders for me!! After running about a dozen 5Ks this year, I've started on 5-to-10K and I'm still working at improving my 5K times.

    Congrats!!!

I have the android version of the app and LOVE IT!!! I can listen to music during my run and it will give me interval updates. Love the customization.

    Congrats on the finish!

Last year I ran my first 5k at 40 minutes. This year I finished in under 27 minutes. It's totally possible! Keep it up!
  • That's terrific!. I tried it a couple years back and gave up about 1/2 way thru for a reason (or not) that I don't even remember.
I just finished week 2, day 1 yesterday am determined to finish it this time. I feel wonderful after each session.
  • FitKate - I have the same story! I was skeptical the of the program, but I had heard people swear by it. So, I gave it a try. On Thanksgiving Day, I ran my first 5K in 39:55. It was an AMAZING feel to do the race. I know understand what people mean about a "runner's high." I've registered for another 5K in January and started the C210K program yesterday with plans to run my first 10K at the beginning of April. I use the ZenLabs app for the iPhone, and it is great! Good luck to those who are using the program now. It's worth it!

Someone please explain to me how this program works. I would like to do it because I want to be able to run a marathon...thats my ultimate goal. Right now I can't even climb my stairs without wanting to fall out.

Ive been just jogging walking on the treadmill for 2 years now. Have recently started looking at this program and have started it from week 4 as i think this is where i am lol! Dont like the app much as its really for people who run outside but im glad it gives you training workouts instead of just plodding along not knowing what to do. I think my quickest 5k was about 43 minutes. Hoping to get that down.

@ strawberrytoa - the app has the ablity to go into treadmill mode! So that way you can still get your interval updates. I run outside and on a treadmill. If you feel like you can run the intervals starting at week 4 then Great! If not I would start it from week one. It really helps you build endurance.

I swear by C25K. I literally started off the couch. Never ran in my life before! Last night I finished week 7 - HUGE improvement fro week 1 - I could not run 30 seconds when I started! And last night I ran for 25 minutes (for the third time) All I can say is GIVE IT A GO! If I am able to do it, anyone is ;)
