Anyone have a real strong opinion on which is the best route to go. I like working out with dumbbells, but could really push heavier weights with a home gym system. gonna keep doing cardio with my wife on the wii and walking, but would really like to start defining muscles as i continue to lose weight.

Great work thus far! All in all its more about reps then weight if you are trying to get defined muscle. My opinion is dumbells lighter weight 15-20 reps of each. If you are trying to build up muscle then i would go with the home gym, heavier weights less reps.0

I would agree with williams3023 in that if you want bigger muscles, lift heavy and less reps. What type of home gym system are you thinking? I have the Bowflex Selecttechs and they are AWESOME!!!! Well worth the investment and take up a fraction of what a big machine would take.0
